Slow (speeds rarely got over 100kB/s), but the visual quality is fantaaastic. Sound is in perfect synch and confirmed that there are hard-coded English subs for the dwarven and elvish scenes. This is THE version to get if you're an afficionado/superfan and can't afford to buy the blurays. (And yes these ARE the extended versions.)

can anyone give me some advice:
these files play fine on my PC with VLC Media Player although only in stereo.
when i stream them to my network connected blu-ray player the video stutters, stops then speeds up and i get very broken sound.
if i pop one of the files to a usb stick and pop it into the usb slot on the tv plays fine in stereo
if i burn a file to blank blu-ray as data i get the same issue as streaming so its not a network bottleneck issue (gigabit/switched)
other MKV's i have downloaded from here play fine except the Jurassic Park Trilogy they are jumpy too

I am glad you ask.
Seeding is the same as sharing the movie with others. So when you have downloaded for example 30 megabytes, you can upload those 30 megabytes to other people. You can see how much you have seeded looking at how much you have uploaded. You should seed at least the same size as you downloaded. So this file you should upload at least 12.04 GiB. Though I recommend you upload 3 times the size :)

Dude, you have to say the following:
1. The movie has hardcoded yellow subs for the non-english parts.
2. The credits are completely cut off, maybe because they last like forever in the extended editions, but man...
The movies have excellent quality, if it wasn't because of the hardcoded subs and the credits being cut off really baddly, this rips would be perfect. Please specify that next time because in the case of this movie, credits are really important. Anyway, been downloading this for a long, long time, will seed but be warned about this things. Aspect ratio, you need to look into it. Cinematic films are not (often) shot in 16:9. They're shot in 1.85:1 or 2.39:1..
What does that mean? It means that you can't display a film properly in 1920x1080. It also means that blu-rays count the black bands around the image as pixels. This torrent doesn't.

You don't have to download everything in this file. In BITTorrent, you can set priority on the files. Just don't download the samples and close captions, unless you really want them. It runs a whole lot faster. Also, pause the videos/files you are seeding, it helps with speed. Mine has been downloading for about 30 minutes and I'm already 20% But if people would actually seed and not leech like jerks, files like this would run a lot faster.... of course even faster depending on your internet provider!! haha! Unfortunately these movies have no subtitles, which for a film fan like me is important as it gives some dedication to the makers (of a film of this calibre) despite it being pirated.
Other than that, great quality, with only a few spots of elvish mono/dialogue that don't have hardcoded subs… maybe missed.

I'm playing em on a MacBook Pro ( via VLC of course ), using a mini-DVI to HDMI converter cable and thus streaming to an old Mitsubishi rear projection. It's a weird setup, but works like a charm.

Two things that made this torrent bad for me:
1. The subtitles are not synced, but fortunately this can be fixed with VLC.
2. The fucking ending. There are not credits, it just cuts right after the last scene, wtf? It completely ruins the feeling of the ending.
Other then that it was a pretty solid torrent with good audio and sound.

This torrent sucks. I downloaded about 50% and started Fellowship of the Ring and found that on VLC it would freeze for a 10 second duration in the beginning. I looked at the instructions for player problems included in the torrent, downloaded and configured the recommended player, and it didn't even play at all on that player. Besides that, it downloaded at a pretty fair speed for 12gb, at least, and was good quality when it wasn't frozen. Appreciate the effort put into making these torrents, it just blows that it didn't work for me this time lol.

1920x800 = 2.4:1 aspect ratio which is what the movie was shot like and displayed in theaters.
1920x1080 = 1.77:1 aspect ratio which is the standard widescreen aspect ratio (16x9).
In order to fit the 2.4:1 into a 1.77:1 aspect ratio, you need the black bars top and bottom.
Do some research and understand how movies are shot before bitching.

The audio in the start is fine but at 11:41 the movie stops for 2 seconds and then it starts with low sound.... i thought that the audio had problem but it fixes after you stop the movie after that and you go some seconds ahead... Oh god this fucking torrent. On the one hand, it has elvish subtitles that are in sync with the movie, something I haven't seen in any other torrent. But on the other hand... THEY REMOVED THE FUCKING CREDITS! "Everything here has been done with the reason, so if you do not understand something don't assume its done bad." Give me one good reason why you would want to get rid of the credits. It was a major let down to watch the entire movie then not see any credits. And yes, I know it's my own fault for not having read the specs and seen where it says "removed credits from ..." for every movie, but I shouldn't have to. Tip for any of your future torrents. NEVER remove the credits.

I am sure you will never see this, but yeah man. Why remove the credits to save on a few megabits of data? I want to sit there and revel on the experience I just had, the feels I just felt with the beautiful score continuing on in the background. Not just have it cut out abruptly. I feel like anyone who truly appreciates the experience a movie provides would understand this.
It's not a big deal for a lot of movies, but for a movie on the scale of tLotR it really is necessary imo.
There are also some dips in quality, but otherwise the rip is really solid.

Just for all of you to realize, video bitrate can not be 1080p and also be less than 7500 Kbps / 7.5 Mbps at the same time. This is the BARE MINIMUM for the 1080p standard. These video files are BELOW THAT, and thus are not actually 1080p. It looks more like they're 720p up-sampled and the video bitrate kept the same to keep file size down.
Either way the video quality is -NOT- what you've come to expect for 1080p movies, and you should not waste your time downloading this.
Also he lists the video bitrates right here in the description, why bother if you can see right away that it'll be crappy just reading that alone.

You guys are effing stupid. This torrent is obviously made to be played back on PS3. It looks great on a big screen, and the file size is small enough to be transferred to USB to PS3.
This torrent is loads better then any of the YIFY ones, at least this has fairly decent audio quality compared to YIFY's questionable sound quality on his LoTR movies. I highly recommend this torrent to anyone looking to playback these movies on their PS3 on their TV.

Very good picture quality.
Just a few comments:
Language subtitles for fantasy languages (Elvish, Khuzdul, Black Speech, wizard spells, etc.) are encoded into the movie - this is a good thing for the most part. It includes fan translations for some dialogue that was not in the theatrical movie however (wizard chants, Aragorn's singing in FotR, some Arwen dialogue, pretty much everything said in the Black Speech) which is interesting, and works well in the extended edition - but it is not as the original was, something to be aware of.
Also, the movie is cut very short -- that is, there are no credits whatsoever and so the music that went along with them is missing.
