Disney re-released the film in 1956, but in 1970 Disney announced in Variety that "Song of the South" had been "permanently" retired, but the studio eventually changed its mind and re-released the film in 1972, 1981, and again in 1986 for a 40th anniversary celebration. # On May 8, 2007, the Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable, which includes representatives from the Los Angeles Civil Rights Assn., the NAACP National Board, and the Youth Advocacy Coalition, sent out a press release denouncing Disney's contemplation to re-release "Song of the South". I have no sympathy for the point of view that this film is somehow rascist. Isn't every character in every movie somehow a stereotype? This film presents a profound message of humanity, kindness, and dare I say unconditional love, and Uncle Remus is the messenger. -LT

Well, the thing is rottencore, that you wouldn't know a quality rip from a U-tube video, so I suggest you keep downloading aXXo crap...there are plenty of people who appreciate quality rips of quality films.

thank you Lord_Terabyte for all the wonderful info on this. i had to google to find the name of this movie as i seen it once when i was a kid and loved it. if it is so racist then why is it that i can remember it as a wonderful movie that i seen when i was like 5 and could never remember the name, but have been searching for it forever. i had no idea it was banned. but thank you a thousand times for this. now my 4 kids can watch it and love it as i did.
