Try to move it up ya ass. No seriously simply do a regular search for it with the built in tool or if you created a shortcut it should say what folder its linked from if you right click it and chose the correct menue.

ok downloaded and works fine and everything except i keep getting BSOD every couple of minutes. then eventually it returns to the game and plays fine, but this happens frequently. when i quit the game a balloon is on the right hand corner of my screen stating "display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered". i'm running vista, an nvidia geforce 8600, dual core cpu and 4 gigs ram. i'm certain it's not my specs, as this game is nothing my machine can't handle. has anyone experienced this and better yet solved this this problem?

Gives me same kind of behavior with my gf 8400M GS on my laptop. Using driver release 178 on laptop.
With 8800Gtx it works fine on my desktop with driver release 177 but gives same behavior on 178 as on my laptop.
Need to check if converting back to 177 on my laptop also takes those propblems away.
You might try using 177 release with your card and check if it works better.

4. Copy the cracked content over from the Crack directory on the disc to

Figured it out by my self.
After you've mouted it, you will see the CIV as a regular harddrive. Explore that G:/(at least that's what it's called at my PC) drive and copy the .exe file in the crackfolder to the installed files. Overwrite the original .exe file.

The disk error message is down to not or wrong crack installation,
RIGHT HOW TO INSTALL THE CRACK,
Double click on CRACK folder (on CD or wherever you have it)
Right click on colonisation file (scroll down to COPY,then left click on it). close that folder and go to C/program files/2k games/firaxis games/sid meiers civ iv colonisation and anywhere on the screen besides directly over another file right click the file is replaced by the crack file job donr.

okay, i aint dumb and i've did this copy crack over original file bla bla MANY times, but is there something wrong with this crack? i manage to find out whats wrong. okay the oringial colonization.exe is 16.8mb and the crack is 38.9mb. now when i copy&replace it says admin permission needed so i click continue and it shows the bar like it is transfering BUT when i check in the folder it STILL remains as 16.8mb which means the crack totally didnt copy&replace it! it just REFUSE! i've even tried to delete the original and again it shows admin bla bla like as if it really was removed but it just freakin hell cant be moved/deleted/replaced/renamed.. Attention all Vista users:
First off, I'd like to display my hatred for Vista.
Secondly, disabling User Account Control will let you replace the Colonization application. If you have a look at the permissions for the Colonization folder, you'll see that the 'installer' only gets to read and execute files so to bypass this rule, you'll have to take UAC off. It's risky business but if you have a half decent firewall, you'll be ok xo

i installed this and placed the cracked exe into the program directory and ran the program.
i immediately came down with the Rapid Antivirus ransomware virus, as well as several other spyware programs.
my pc is now blocked from automatic updates from microsoft, and i am blocked from downloading any other antispy or antivirus programs. i had AVG but this virus got through that. i thought my AVG was up to date.
i'm pretty sure the infection was from this download because i haven't installed anything else in weeks and this just came up today.
i'm totally screwed. if i can't fix this i am looking at a total xp reinstall.
thank god i am on a mac and my mac partition is not affected.

oK . for all the people out there that do not understand how this works...
1) download torrent
2)open your virtual ROM (ie deamon tools)
3)go to my computer
4)explore the virtual drive with the CIV ISO mounted
5)Run 'Setup'
*the game will install in a folder called 2k games which will be in your program files by now*
*if you try to run the game now you will get the message about wrong CD, THIS IS NORMAL - YOU NEED TO INSTALL THE CRACK - which is in the ISO*
6) go to my computer
7)explore the CIV ISO again
8)find the folder called CRACK
9)Open up another my computer and locate the folder that the CIV icon is in,
*on my PC it is "C:(?):\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Colonization" - but you might have to start/search 'civilization' to find where your one was installed' *
10) click and drag the Civiliztion logo FROM THE CRACK FOLDER and drop it into the one in C(?):\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Colonization
11) if you have followed these instruction correctly(!) windows will ask you if you want to replace the file, click YES and this will exchange the uncracked file for the cracked file and you will now be able to play the game no problems.
NOTE- i did this on XP but the game works on vista so dont blame vista for your own incompetance
Dont bother telling me not to state the obvious, i am helping the people who are having problems

If you are NOT able to open the crack folder through your virtual ROM player (It only runs the autorun, not open the folders), then try unzipping the ISO-file. When you do this, you can also find the crack folder and then you can continue with eArtrash's installation guide.

Finally figured out how to get this damn thing working on Vista!
Tried updating all my drivers with no progress.
Then went into the game settings and changed the "graphics level" to medium. Now it no longer crashes as you're starting up a new game!

First all, this game isn't hard to crack...Too many people are downloading cracked games without a clue of installing them!
Here's about as simple as i can put it.
1. Mount the Image, Run and Install it.
2. Go to C:/Program Files/2k Games/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization
3. Copy the Crack.Exe from the Crack Folder and paste it into the Directory listed above.
4. Run the game, and you will not receive the CD Error.
If you still get the CD error, you've screwed up along the way or the download wasn't fully completed so try again.

ok guys for everyone out there whos having trouble heres a step by step guide and if u have vista sorry im using 7 alienware edtion hate vista never used it anyways first get the torrent download it now extract the iso file to a folder and copy the crack exe then go back out of the crack folder and find the setup exe install it if it doesant work the firsdt time click setup and it will unistall then reinstall it and now go to the folder on your c drive program files x86 or where ever you have your games installed then go to 2k games then fireaxis games then civ 4 folder once in there click paste and the crack will go in now go and mount the iso file you extracted erlier and mount it on whatever drive u want then go to the folder where u extrated the iso and click autorun.exe and click play ok thats as simple as it gets at least thats the way i did it any problems someone on ehre is bound to help u

After you download it, mount the iso (I use daemon), install. I recommend using custom install so you can choose where it goes.
Once installed, go back to the iso, extract it. You will find the crack folder, apply the crack onto the original application where you put it during the installation. It is called 'Colonization'. Play. This is for the people who get the 'wrong disk error'.
Overall, works perfectly, I'm running Win 7 64-bit.

I found out the problem with wrong CD in Windos 7 do custom install because the install program puts the game in 2K games file not Firaxes Games so if you copy the crack file into the right directory it works fine.

Update the 1.0f patch and get a decent mod for this game (I'd recommend TAC or the superb "Religion and Revolution" which is also based on TAC) from the civfanatics site. I don't play the original when these mods improve and balance the game so much.
