Might I ask why your videos are low-quality rips? I mean, the screen resolution for the average user has jumped up to 1024x768, and is most often much higher (as it is with my laptop). Trying to watch this movie with more than one person becomes rather difficult when the video is the size of a Myspace ad.
You have so many great movies - the extended versions, even - and it just seems like your efforts could be more appreciated with higher resolution rips.

lol WeeKnight: Recognise! (ah that's a Scrubs joke for those playing at home).
The extended scenes are awesome just a shame they didn't bother getting the real actors back into the studio for the ADR, sounds like they've used voice actors to fill in the audio in the scenes and the difference is palatable. Lol palpable even. Stupid Mozilla spell-check!
ANYWAY for repeat viewings I've had to go with the non-extended version because of the half-arse fashion they've tacked on the extended scenes though I spose back in 66 the idea of a 'director's cut' was but an embryonic concept.

Your your worried about resolution? It was made in the 1960s what do you want; Sergio Leone to go reshoot it with HD cameras? Maybe you should go buy the "BLUERAY TOTALLY AWESOME REMASTERED EDITION" like all the other saps in the Best Buy. That way you can see the poor quality film stock in VIVID detail.

@jsktrogdor: Film is high resolution. That's why Blu-Ray versions of old movies are made all the time. There are no pixels in film, it's just an image. And it's a very sharp image otherwise it would be a blotchy mess whenever ya' see it on a huge drive-in or theater screen.

@chordus: And there it is again. Huh, I wasn't aware that so many people are confused about this. It doesn't matter if it was made in 1966. Heck, it wouldn't matter if it were made in 1936! Movies in HD have been around since forever because film is high definition (Basically anyway. Film doesn't have pixels but the image is extremely sharp, probably even sharper than 1080p). Sure, peoples' televisions and other electronic equipment in homes didn't get that capability until recently but what people have been watching in theaters and drive-ins has been high resolution since forever. Think about it: If movies 40 or 50 years ago were the same crispness as a SD television it wouldn't have worked on a drive-in screen. It would just have been a big blotch and people would have left and demanded their money back.

I said in my last reply that film is "probably" sharper than 1080p. I did some reading to refresh my memory and what I've been finding says it's not only sharper than 1080p, it's much sharper! So yes, people; old movies, even very old ones, can be in HD. Heck, Gone With The Wind is on Blu-Ray! Of course, the quality of old movies on Blu-Ray is going to depend on how good of shape the film is in, how well the transfer is done, etc. And depending on how cheap the cameras or film were the color might or might not be all that great but resolution is not a problem. They were originally filmed at a sharpness much greater than your 1080p HDTV.

Funny you say that Eddiehjjjfcfjfc, I have the bluray now, and I totally agree, the resolution and picture kicks DVD's butt! I wonder if there is a way to take an entire bluray, extras, languages and subs, down to an AVCHD with mkv and menus around 4.5GB? I've become friends with Vidcoder.
