It is obvious that you yourself are the noob.
How many movies do you see on BluRay that actually fill the 16:9 screen? Most have small black bars at the top and bottom because they were filmed for the cinema, at an aspect ratio of 2.35:1, or roughly 20:9.
Would you think it smart to actually encode the black bars that are on the BluRay, so we can say it's 'true' 1080P to noobs like you? Or should we crop those black bars, leaving 800 (or 804 in this case) pixels height?
Not a single pixel was lost from the original BluRay resolution. This *is* 1080P.
