For those of you planning to download and jailbreak, a quick word of advise.
Upgrading from a previous jailbreak, such as the 2.1-->2.2 firmware upgrade will wipe all your previous jailbreak apps, as well as any settings/preferences they may have contained. You can, however, use FTP or SSH to back up the applications before you jailbreak, and copy them over manually after the firmware upgrade.

If the program crashes for you on windows, install .net framework 3.5 first from the Microsoft download site. Thanks for the upload, worked great after I got my .net issue figured out ;)

Okay I've managed to get my phone service back. I needed to download bootloaders 3.9 & 4.6. it works a treat now & im loving my new apps games. It does take at least an hour to back up then restore music & vids but well worth it. Many thanks iphonedev
