Microsoft Windows 98 SE ~About~ Please note that this is not an ISO, it is a Hard Disk Image for VirtualBox. ~Install~ 1) Download & install VirtualBox 1.6.2 or higher. http://www.virtualbox.org or see my other torrents. 2) Download "Windows 98 SE.vdi" to the following directory: c:Documents and Settings[user name].VirtualBoxVDI 3) Run VirtualBox, select "New" choose all of the settings that you want. When you get to adding a hard drive select "Windows 98 SE.vdi" which you downloaded with this torrent. 4) Once you are done with setup, hit "Start" within VirtualBox. 5) Now you have Microsoft Windows 98 SE running within your current OS! Thanks man. I have been looking 4 a copy of 98 for a long time. ...To the person asking why u would want a copy of 98. I fix computers 4 a living and i run across people running 98 some times. So being able to install 98 on a computer and practice is worth my time.

Okay, after the boot screen it offers me a choice of startup modes, then tells me "Insufficient memory to initialize Windows..." regardless of how much memory I assign to my VM. Host OS is Win7 Ultimate 64 bit, on Virtualbox 3.2.10. HELP???...

Try VirtualBox version 1.6.2
I haven't tried the DL yet, but if you're running version 3.2.10 compared to 1.6.2, it's possible that backwards compatibility is an issue.

To remove windows protection error, disable VT/X (hardware virtualization) in virtualbox.

@mrstars- i, like alot of people, download this so we can play old comp games. im trying to play Hard Truck 2 but everytime i start a new game the map doesnt load up. its just a blank green canvas, so hopefully this will fix it.

@Polarbearo, well said, plus this should allow proper use of the old games from Steam, the way the games were intended instead of having to shut down Win7/8 features to make them work.

Man you saved my night.
Some guy wanted me to install on his win7 a win98!
The reason: His wife needed for her work.
I spent countless hours tryng to install it on the VirtualBox but no luck, one version it doesn't reckognize one version wont boot.

This boots up fine in the latest VirtualBox, v4.2.18. However, it keeps asking for drivers, the mouse is dead slow, and it won't let me install VirtualBox's Guest Additions. Says it isn't compatible with this version of Windows. :(

Win98 is DOS based, If you're experiencing slowdown it's because the uploader forgot to add CPUIdle. This'll also fix mouse cursor problems. Source: experience.
