Confirmed working for retail English version. It boots up and logs in just fine, even though I disabled all my network connections.
Very nicely done.
Here is some more info for those having trouble.
The hosts file in windows 7 is located in
"C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc"
I edited it with vim for windows but notepad should be able to do it too. Notice, it has no extension so double clicking it won't work straight away, you need to select a program to open it with first.
I copied both the cnc4server.exe file and the accounts folder to \Data as well.
I also created an additional account by creating a new folder under the accounts folder and rewriting the account xml files. It works just fine.

The only problem I'm having is, that I don't get ANY eXPerience points. I've done the first mission, and quit right after it, no point in playing if I don't get anything. And it's only for the GDI campaign, I couldn't even start NOD.
I really thought that the game would be better than this. The units looks way too big and way to awful. Path-finding is trash.
This was a really half-assed work from the developers. It's like they haven't even tried. I couldn't even get the units to line up in formations by holding the right mouse button down like in C&C 3 it makes for much easier managing, ambushing...etc.

Wow, people don't seam to be able to read. If you are asked to put user credentials in then you did something wrong as this method bypasses that. You need to rename cnc4.game in the install-dir\Data directory to cnc4.exe, right click and make a shortcut, right click the shortcut and go to properties (you should see a target section) at the end of that line, add what the readme tells you to. Also, copy the cnc4server.exe file and the accounts folder into install-dir\Data. Always use your shortcut to launch the game after you have launched the server.

OK first of all, I DO KNOW HOW TO READ. i have been trying everything many times. I have reinstalled the game 4 times and tried this everytime. I have followed the readme exactly everytime. I can't seem to find anything wrong.

Ok, well, paste the contents of the shortcut's target proporty and explain where you put the accounts folder, the cnc4server.exe file, and what you did with the cnc4.game file as well as that files path.
Something with your environment is different then mine causing your install to not work.

Also, try this guys, so that you do not have to manually launch the cnc4server program everytime you want to play:
Create a new text file in install-dir\Data named anything you want.
inside this file put the following; adjusting for your paths:

Rename this txt file so that it ends in .bat (not .bat.txt)
Create a shortcut to that .bat file.
You can them move your new shortcut anywhere you want. This .bat file will launch the server first, then the game, everytiime.

ok, i put all the contents of the crack into the install dir/data folder like it told me to do. I renamed the CNC4.game into CNC4.exe and it changed into an application file. this is the shortcut:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Command & Conquer 4 Tiberian Twilight\Data\CNC4.exe" -config "..\CNC4_English.SkuDef" -loginToken "test@xmail.com|zzzz" -persona "test" I pasted all the stuff into the host file (step 1) by opening notepad and finding it, not by clicking on it and choosing a program. any help is greatly appreciated

Got the same problem as johnpinky, did everything (install etc) several times, still that login problem persists. btw, ndv I'm launchin the game by double clicking the shortcut (well, click/enter, for that matters) and I highly doubt this "lauching method" question solved the matter for johnpinky.

follow the instructions. edit the host file. add those servers in the readme. once ur done, edit the cnc4.game file they asked u to rename. then copy the downloaded folder into your data folder. this way ull have the folder accounts copied into your C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Command & Conquer 4 Tiberian Twilight\Data . run the cnc4server file, then run the RUNCNC4.batch file. this way u can use the test account already in the game.

Still got a problem.
A have completed that Bonus Mission for NOD with that new guy Gideon and it doesn't show ANY new NOD mission on the list.
I can go on the second one with GDI but NOD has nothing else. What the hell is going on?

I was wondering about johnpinky "hosts" problem, I had a "hosts.sam" in the .../etc directory, i just renamed it in "hosts" (no extension) (with the modifications in it, of course) and it worked ! It seems I mistakenly took that hosts.sam for the hosts it was all about.
So, for you all who are stuck on the login screen, check that the file in your .../drivers/etc has the EXACT name (hosts with no extension).

Only the folder [ test@xmail.com ] with files [ account and persona_test ] must be inside the folder [ Command & Conquer Tiberian Twilight 4 \ Data ] for the game have no problem with User name and password.

I've gotten the version of the game. I got this server crack and set everything up exactly how the readme's suggested. The game's single player works fine, or so I thought. Made it to mission 5 or 6 for the NOD and saved the game then closed out the game and the server. I then went and loaded everything back up only to find out the missions list was back at the second one. My save file was still up at the 5th one though. So to test this I beat the missions back up to the 5th one and restarted everything again. Same problem. I believe there is an issue with the server looping the missions back to the 2nd one everytime it restarts.

its working and u can play, but once u close the game your progress will be lost and u have to start over again from GDI mission 2
also the experience isnt added for me

For people getting the login screen when starting the game, here's a possible solution that worked for me: After what you've done by following the instructions in the ReadMe file, untick the "Read-only" box, if it is already ticked, in the same "hosts" file you edited by going to its Properties (Right Click on file --> Properties) (the original "hosts" file, not "hosts.txt").
Then start the game again, it should work (note that my OS is Windows XP SP2, I'm not sure if it works on other OSs).
