No one asked i do have season 2-6 that is not uploaded i yest uploade Atlantis in 720p and am using my bandwith for that. But since you asked i will uploade the rest of them i have in better quality then 350 MB versions in the future3261dan (2009-02-16)
Thanks Hoku, these are looking very good so far. Now to get my hands on 9 and 10 in high quality :)3261dan (2009-02-17)
Quick question...Why have you encoded these at this resolution and aspect ratio?
Basically this is wide-screen which has its width shrunk to a non-widescreen ratio. So to watch with correct aspect ratio, we must stretch the image.
As far as I know, the correct aspect ratio for these is close to 1.6:1... However these files have been encoded at 1.25:1...

I can't remember the aspect ratio but as far as i know it is the same as the original film and that is why it has that aspectratio3261dan (2009-02-20)
Yeah your right... its 1.8:1 (16:9)But that wasn't my point. Basically what I meant was if you look at the Resolution of these files: 720 x 576 As you can see, that is a long way off 16:9 (1.8:1).
It is in fact 1.25:1 (5:4).
Now I compare this to some other SG1 .avis I have, now their resolutions are all at 16:9... For example they are 848 x 480 or around this number, keeping the approximate 16:9 ratio.
Anyway, I am by no means complaining, they still turn out very good, and are worth getting... Im just a pedantic bastard :)

a standard def dvd can only hold 720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL) depending on the region. this is its aspect ratio.now theres also pixel aspect ratio, which is applied on the fly by your player, and represents the dimensions of each pixel. for 4:3 footage the pixel aspect ratio is 0.888... , so the end result is (720x0.88..)=640x480. it plays back in 4:3.
in widescreen dvds, they still encode the whole 720x480 pixels, but to represent an image a wider image, they change the pixel aspect ratio to 1.185 so the net result is (720x1.185)=853x480 is 16:9.
They always fill every pixel they can on the dvd, but stretch them differently for widescreen and 4:3 playback. Its the same thing for PAL but al the numbers are slightly different.
encoding at the original resolution was the only call to make. only way to maintain a pixel-perfect image. had he stretched it widescreen himself, the image would be worse andn the file size larger b/c there'd be more pixels to encode.
havent watched this yet, but i cant wait. sweet upload hoku! Thanks so much.

Hi Hoku, I would need you help pls. Everytime i open the file i downloaded this torrent to, my explorer closes down and says there is a fault. If i open the file in total comander and open any of the videos (in BS player), it says there´s a fault and it closes BS player. I was so happy that i can get this series so i have a complete collection but now... it just doesn´t work... :o( Thx for any ideas how to solve this if there´s a chance.r1r22 (2009-07-27)
i'm sorry, but how is this HD?the resolution of these files is 720 x 576. thats standard definition and not HD
when you see 720p or 1080i/p used in HD those numbers refer to the number of horizontal pixels, not vertical, so 1080p is actually 1920 by 1080
so 720p HD, means 1280×720, not 720 by 576, thats just the standard tv resolution and is not High Definition by any means
unless i've made some sort of mistake i'd like someone to explain to me why this is titled HD, or at the very least remove HD from the title

R1R22 I named it Season 8 HD since the original I got it from had the same name. When I made it I kinda thought the same. But then i thougt that they are in better quality then any other standard def shows I had seen. True it is not real HD but it is better quality and resolution then nearly all of the standard deffenition versions out there. So do you have a better name for it?r1r22 (2009-08-26)
... you kind of answered your own question there, "better quality" would be a better, and less timewasting title than "HD", when you put HD on there it leads people to think that it is actually HD as in 720 or 1080although i have downloaded 1 episode from your Atlantis torrent and that is freaking mint, 10/10 for that one!
