I have the same problem. It was working fine for a week and suddenly the fake serial message popped up. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it about 20 times now but it keeps on showing the fake serial message almost immediately after a fresh install.

Tired of being POPED up by "Fake serial number" after installing, uninstall IDM, run "Unregister.IDM"..??? then you need to uninstall the software and reboot the PC then install it again and patch., after activate again and again and again everytime you restart your PC??? Instead of using this version of software., try to use the IDM 5.12 -->100% working w/o f**** poped up., mine is 2 years already ONLY Cracked and still working FINE..! ;D

Yeah, I downloaded it and it worked great for a while, then the pop-ups started: "registered with a fake serial number..." i've reinstalled it, done the registry, etc, followed the directions a few times, only to find that the pop-ups keep coming.

Guys, as with most cracked software, it's very important to disconnect your computer from the internet BEFORE you install it. Most software automatically checks their servers for updates and at the same time can detect fake CD keys and lock the program.
So disconnect your computer from the internet, install the software as per the instructions on Notepad, then run the program still with the net disconnected and enter the Options/Preferences menu and disable all automatic updates, all settings that send "anonymous data to improve our services" etc. and THEN plug your internet back in.
Hope this helps some people.

I have been using the net for many years and I am downloading in normal http and ftp and never had a problem...a friend of mine recently told me about it and that its really makes the downloads faster.....anybody have any idea if its really that good and really helps as they say???

ashraf29 it is good, but you have to do the process told in the "Install Notes", again and again, every time you start your computer. If you can do it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,go ahead, it is the best software, will give you full speed, and youtube video downloads.........

CHANGE "IDMGrHlp.exe" to "IDMGrHlp.bak" from the IDM folder{in prgram x86} and you wont get anymore of this annoying popups
