Description:
Atlas Shrugged is a novel by Ayn Rand, first published in 1957 in the United States. It was Rand's last work of fiction before concentrating her writings exclusively on philosophy, politics and cultural criticism. At over one thousand pages in length, she considered it her magnum opus.[1] Also, at approximately 645,000 words, Atlas Shrugged is one of the longest novels ever written in any European language. The book explores a number of philosophical themes that Rand would subsequently develop into the philosophy of Objectivism. According to a 1991 United States survey by the Library of Congress and the Book of the Month Club, Atlas Shrugged was the book that made most difference in readers' lives after the Bible.

At least the bible is a good read. Poor Ayn couldn't even get past old Hume's 200-year-old is-ought problem, and inflicted suicidal boredom on millions through this trash. Best laugh I had last Century when she got lung cancer - superwomen obviously shouldn't smoke!velvetfog (2008-03-18)
Atlas Shrugged sells 10 to 12 thousand copies per month. It has not been out of print for 50 years.angusmcb, just stick to your bible.

the comment about laughing at ANYONE getting cancer reveals a great deal about your characterangusmcb. One could fill innumerable lines of text
w/ adjectives and nouns to describe that character.
no need to.
GOD takes notice of comments and thoughts
such as those you have expressed.
SOMEONE VERY DEAR TO ME IS BATTLING CANCER RIGHT NOW.
I WOULD NOT WISH IT ON ANYONE.

Personally I wouldn't wish christianity on anyone either. Look how nimrods like angusmcb turn out.angusmcb (2008-03-23)
Dear oh dear, must be a few 'round these parts whose humour is as challenged as their perception - must be septics. Reading either religious fairy-stories or amateurish objectivist pap tends to have that effect though. What I find interesting is the apparent connection between randies & god-botherers within US conservatism - much more intriguing than the book itself, which is one of the most tortuously boring pieces of shite written in any language - and like I say can't even pass Hume's basic test.velvetfog (2008-03-26)

best book i have honestly, ever read. it's more than fiction. it's beyond inspiration. anyone who in the least bit appreciates themselves or being human, will thoroughly enjoy this book.so good that it doesn't require passing standards in order to be successful.

Hahahaha. Watch out everybody. Your boss is out to kill you. It's easy to quantify how much death communism and fascism cause both have killed millions and millions of people for the sake of an evil ideology. Capitalism doesn't demand the death of it's people, just there freedom. Many have died for freedom, but unlike communism and fascism, they choose to do so.USMC4LIFE (2009-06-07)
LeninistStalinist is a dumbass troll and angusmcb is just a dumbass.philos19 (2009-06-13)

Objectivists can download Rand torrents if we ALREADY OWN HER BOOKS. We just want quick reference material we can copy-paste from. The real question is whether or not it is a torrent should exist to Commies who want to read her book w/o buying it (*chuckle!*).
Since you can do that at a public library anyway, there really isn't any conflict.
Oh, and since Capitalism requires an honored, agreed-upon contract b/w two or more people (written or unwritten), it can't be used to force anyone to do anything, much less murder them.
So what's it called when you lie about the nature of your contract? About who is and isn't involved? Or when you put something in your product that shouldn't be there, or pretend it is something else entirely? Or when you hire employees under the condition they do some things, then force them to do other things entirely? Or when you trade favors with politicians for special deals and legislation?
Lying. Fraud. Intimidation. The last one is popularly called "Crony-Capitalism", which is ironic, since no coercion (a role all govt's. perform whether we like it or not) is involved in Capitalism.
So when assholes like LeninistStalinist start quoting people saying how Capitalism is murdering people, they're actually pointing the finger at Hostess and stores that sell cheap stuff. The "crony-capitalists" are seldom mentioned, since they're sanctioned by the State, and usually claim to work for The People.

@ a1sWell there is something I'd never thought about before. Thanks for pointing it out.
There should be only one ribbon for 'universal illness', using colours discriminates and causes confusion and jealousy.
White is all colours together in unity and should be the universal illness ribbon. Write your cancer of choice in plain text on the ribbon for reference.

work. But that doesn't matter too much. The only thing that matters, my goal, my reward, my
beginning, my end is the work itself. My work done my way. Peter, there's nothing in the world
