The game works fine to me. I have Dual Core 2.83 Ghz with 4 Gb Ram Ddr2 1066 and 8800GT 512mb Ddr3 in Windows XP Pro Sp3 with LATEST Nvidia drivers, DirectX and Net Framework. For me until now, it needs patch ONLY for GAMEPAD and KEYBOARD settings (I didn't use the other patches in your comments. I don't know if they can help, to me). INFO: If you press when you're in game ALT+TAB or WIN button to go to desktop, the game crashes. So be careful if you didn't make a save. (Sorry for my English, i'm Greek)

Alright guys, I went through hell to make this work.
I will share what ended up working for me so you don't have to go through the same BS:
UPGRADE OR REINSTALL YOUR DIRECTX.
If you get this error:
ABORTING build [FINAL] v6.34 Changelist: #663064 Silent Hill: Failed to create pixel shader because we ran out of video memory. Try decreasing the quality settings. [no game crash info]
Your video card is not good enough to play the game. There is no way around this. You either have to buy a new video card, or if you are on a laptop then you have to buy a new laptop.

Played uptill the home part works fine except for most of the cutscenes. They lag and stutter the stuttering continues into the main game untill u produce a sound(say attack with your knife) then it goes back to normal.

Everything works fine, except attacking O.e; I equipped weapon, and, actually, when I tried to attack, I don't even think I went into combat stance o_o Anyways, I changed the attack hotkeys, and, still, nothing. So I can't get past the Demon Nurse that spawns when you get the knife. Am I the only one having this problem? If so, how would I go about fixing this O.e?

Works very fine, except it crashes if you minimize the game. Since you can only save between checkpoints, some of which may take a lot of time to reach (like the one after nightmare), this is really a funkiller.
As for the game, I'm not impressed.

working fine on win7 32 bit. i had problem with sound so i runned in compatibility for winXP(SP3 tho). After i got sound i couldnt load ''new game'' so i turned off compatibility -> sound stayed and game worked pretty normal . SAVE is not possible in ''menu'' so u need to find specific locations or ''save points''. After game intro or ''nightmare'' mission it took me one hour of playing to get to 1st save point (behind house, cemetery). Thx for upload i really wanted to try this game bcz when i was young i couldnt play it.

Torrent worked fine for me at first, but about 5 days later I've been having a problem with controls. I'll be reinstalling the game to see if that helps.
Also guys, remember that if you don't run compatibility settings with the game, then you'll have to run it in administrator mode everytime you start it up.

actually, never mind my last comment. i left that after playing for like an hour or less.
this is pure trash:
-map doesn't show properly. only shows the left side of all maps.
-the hotel map 3rd floor is labeled as '3nd floor' lololol
-buttons/keys don't assign correctly.
-i can't reload on my 360 controller no matter which button i assign the reload action to.
-when i load a previous save. my keyboard keys are all messed up even though they show correctly in options.. target and heavy attack both act when i right click, even though i have heavy attack set to space so i can't do anything about it.
-freezes every now and then for a few seconds(yes my specs far outperform recommended requirements)
-what i said on my last comment about screen scaling.
this game is bad and it should feel bad..

Running Win 8. The game installed fine, worked perfectly at first; load times became excessive... the program says "Not Responding" in the Task Manager for a minute or two, then eventually works again. Irritating.
Here's the real problem: I played the game all the way until Alex and Ella have escaped into the sewer. There's a gate and a wheel crank you need to rotate.
Each time I click on the wheel to rotate it, it squeaks once and then Alex lets go, so I have to re-click on it. It opens, literally, about a quarter of an inch with every attempt.
IT FUCKING TOOK AN HOUR OR MORE TO OPEN THE GATE. Pressing the mouse button over and over and over... when it's halfway up, I can't duck under. When it's above my head, I can't go through. WHEN IT'S OPEN ALL THE WAY TO THE CEILING I STILL CAN'T GO THROUGH.
This glitch has made it impossible to play past this point. Did anybody else have this problem?

In update to my previous comment: I figured what was wrong with the video. The resolution wasn't set correctly so the screen just showed black. After I changed it the game displayed normally.
