Yes Vista does indeed suck and for those of you who are stuck with the operating system and would rather be with out - try TinyXP Rev 09 by experience - its just a name as there is nothing tiny about the OS however make sure you only selection option 1 or 2 as most of the other option suck when choosing a variant of the OS

thnx for the comments, just so your aware the manufacturers website of your laptop should have both the XP and vista version of the drivers your looking for - there is a driver pack that comes with TinyXP and it does have a butload of drivers but Id recommend you have the xp version on hand first BEFORE downgrading.

This installs OK on bog standard 32 bit XP pro sp3, but when you try and run it (after running the reg file), it says something like "This version of Nero wont run on this version of windows. Please contact Ahead".
So I guess either no one has used this program with XP (are you all using windows 3.1?) or this is a virus and all the comments above were generated by the virus publisher. Who knows.

john actually all the windows computers Ive put this software on were all Windows XP sp3 on a 32bit kernel.
Can you please tell me more about your computer. As for right now what I recommend is that you get CCleaner which you can get from here

download and install the latest version, use it to uninstall NERO 6 and any other NERO programs you have than run the registry cleaner which is also an option on CCleaner.
Restart the computer and add the .reg file first THAN install the program - I really hope that helps.

Hey John also I tried replicating your incident jus 5 minutes ago - what I would also recommend is that you add the .reg file to the registry both before AND after(why not I always say) - however it seems like your having an incompatibility issue so thats why I'd like to know a bit more about both your computer and operating system - like did your version of windows come with service pack 3 slip streamed already(kinda like mine) or did you install it previously? Post up specs mang!

Hey about that cable idea, I looked it up a bit and you have to have a graphics card that has like a TV PAL mode thingy, some do - but incase yours doesnt go to like EBAY or look on google for a PC TV converter box
Heres one I found on ebay its about 45bux with shipping...yeah this is all a pain in the ass just to save 2 hours each time you burn a DVD ...but hey I understand. Your computer probably like mine is in a terrible spot to have people enjoy movies on.

thx fuwad that is a good idea but do you use Converxtodvd. My xbox 360 reads codecs fine which is what the 600mb movies are but it takes me exactly 58min to convert and burn a full length movie. Ok so I kind of suck with anything but my last version of Nero where I just clicked on 2-3 movies i wanted on a dual layer disc, choose the menu then click burn and it worked fine but it got deleted off my comp somehow I downloaded this and every time I go to put a movie in the burning part it says not recognized or not compatible or some gay shit. Actually I don't think your retarded at all.
if your talking about making a DVDR for a DVD player, unfortunately, you have to convert the file to a .vob - Nero 6 does not have that video converter program hence its ridiculously small size compared to its bloated descendants.
I usually use DVD Flick which is not only the best program for making bonefide DVD movies but its open source, ad-free and freeware

Sometimes it says the demo has expired, but that was for dumb things like making a cd cover.

as much as I'd love to run a server on my personal computer, upgrade my ram to 128 Gigabits, use only 64bit programs even shit like internet exloder and GODFORBID if there isnt a 64bit driver that works with my webcam, printer, networkcard or even monitor and run a VMware like verison of windows IN my windows operating system just so I can run SOME 32bit applications. Yeah let me tell yeah I REALLY regret nero6 not being able to support that.
Ok dude in all seriousness cuz now I'm curious, cuz my next laptop might have an AMD64(unfortunately). What is the advantage of running a 64 version of Windows when most software still made TODAY is still for a 32bit architect.
What I'm trying to get at is this. See im gonna be going off to college soon. Hence im getting a laptop. Now with my major we use ALOT of software and its usually(but not always) on a 32bit WINDOWS operating sys. For me its VERY important that every CD, every program, every macro,driver and document opens up on the OS that im using or else im boned. If I do get that AMD64 I may actually uninstall the Vista 64 that it comes with and install TinyXP 32bit just so I can be 100% sure that every program I stick on that book works even if its a wee bit slower than what it would be if I were running it in a 64x environment.
So I want to really know now. Is running an operating system at a faster rate worth only being able to use less than 10% of what you can get off internet pirate sites like this one?
Has windows mostly addressed the problems I brought up since the time that I f'd around in the x64 world?
Am I making any sense or do I not know what I'm talking about and am just pulling shit outta my ass?

Will Nero 6 UE let me do a one-step burn of .img & .iso files ? Also looking to convert & burn downloaded .mp4 & weird codec video files to dvd-R that will work on a regular dvd player.
Tried using the newer Nero stuff & it worked until it died & gave me NeroPatentActivation crap.

Nero 6 should have no problem whats so ever making CD's from saved CD images such as .iso files.
As for making DVD .vob files that will work on a regular DVD player - this version of Nero 6 will NOT do that. Theres a good reason why this program is so small and that is one of the reasons why.
Sorry to tell ya your gonna need a differnt program to do that.
Might I recommend the program I always use for that task.
I usually use DVD Flick which is not only the best program for making bonefide DVD movies but its open source, ad-free and freeware

Hate to tell ya to download another program just to do something you used to be able to do with the bloated nero 9 - but look at it this way. What you end up with is still WAY lighter than Nero 8 or 9.

Compatibility mode does not work for Vista 64-bit - The program simply closes after displaying this message and asked to input a serial number (yes I ran the .reg). Perhaps this may be due to incompatibility with drivers which are 64-bit. If only Nero offered their damn software with WHAT WE WANT. :p Beating a dead horse I guess.

Its quite nice, I would say its probably the best open source software you can have, its small, its light and the best part is its legit - you don't have to risk your butt getting sued or going to jail to use that software unlike this one. *shrugs
If you have a burner and no software for it and just need it to burn music/info on a disc and make iso's this is pretty good.

Infrarecorder isn't bad but it fails for some reasons where Nero works fine
I coastered 3 disks in Infrarecorder trying to do a DVD-DVD copy, it worked fine in Nero
burning a .cue with multiple .bin files has failed on Infrarecorder with a bad sector size error... nowhere in the .cue does it specify a sector size... Nero has burned it fine.

My mistake! I didn't see the relevant posts until I had already posted the comment. It might be redundant, but considering there are four pages of comments, it's all that much more likely that someone skimming the comments section will catch that.
That's fine if you don't want to run x64. I was just looking for some light CD recording software and Nero 6 is about as light as it gets. It's a pity because this is a great torrent. InfraRecorder seems to be working pretty tight and I wouldn't have known about that had it not been for the comments section on this, so thank you!
The point of running a 64 bit OS for some is that some folks have 4+ GB of RAM and unless a 64 bit OS is run, not all of that memory will be recognized.
Adobe CS4 also includes 64-bit binaries for Windows and is better able to address larger portions of memory when dealing with large files, which means less page disk writing.
For the average user, though, you are correct. There really isn't a significant advantage.

Wow, I forgot that Nero used to be this good. The interface is good, program is quick and there is no nagware and unnecessary things in it. Unfortunately, today, 2009, Nero 6 feels quite old and outdated despite the good qualities it obviously has. This is the version which made Nero so pular. Nero 6 was however first released in 2003!
Many questions come to my mind: How is support for new hardware and burners? What impact on performance and quality of recordings does the old burning engine have? Are there actually any compability issues with Nero 6? I'm running WINDOWS XP SP3 2009 ULTRA EDITION from Piratebay and for some reason I got compability warnings even on Windows XP. Everything seems to work fine though. There is a well maintained Nero Lite version available. But then I naturally think: Why use a program where you have to have a lite version for it to work the way it should? Without all the nagware and spyware like behaviour. Nero 9 completely takes over your computer like the worst virus would. What have I done instead?
I tried some of the other recording programs available. I disregarded all the clogged suites from big companies like Nero, especially Roxio being nearly 2GB! It is sometimes bundled with new computers. Another program which Acer often seems to bundle is called NTI-maker and is quite the disaster. So which programs are left? The smaller companies of course. Someone here mentioned Infrarecorder, being open source, it is of course freeware and you can be certain there is no nagware or spyware in it. But unfortunately the program is not very good. I tried DeepBurner (feels simple and cheap), CDBurnerXP (this requires Net framework and feels clunky), Cheetah Burner (this program looked quite good at first but the interface was not good).
Now I almost gave up when I found BurnAware on Piratebay! Super small, very clean and easy interface, actual software with the latest version being from 10 january! It is of course available on Piratebay. Try it instead of sticking to clogged Nero, customized versions, or old versions like this one. fuwad84, I hope my recommendation does not anger you as you seem to like to use the verbal kind of language. This is a good program though, just that it is old and surely there must be better alternatives than a 6 year old program.

Thank you very much for that long well written comment.
As I've addressed before, it will pop up with a compatibility issue. I'm not sure why that is - how ever I have yet to see any version of XP, or Vista for that matter, effected in anyway shape or form.
I don't in anyway discourage people from using other software, especially if its better and they like it more. The reason I uploaded this was because I simply had it since about 2003 and have only recently discovered the pirate bay about a year ago. Even then I didn't realize how bloated Nero had become until I installed Nero 8 myself(I know a cardinal sin right?).
So no don't worry about suggesting other software - infact I encourage it.
Also I do want to say, having visited Sweden recently that its a wonderful, very friendly place with very beautiful women. I highly envy someone living in such a progressive, liberal country.
But can I make a suggestion, please treat your Muslim immigrants a little better. I know they're a pain in ass now but if you show them just a bit more respect, mabe they'll still be religious assholes but their kids will integrate into general Sweden society lickity slip.

@Ashlar62 - regarding burning movies with this version of Nero. You can burn movies with this version. What you can not do is to convert -lets say- an .avi file into a .vob (or DVD) file.
In order to to burn a movie with thsi version you need it to already be in .vob format. For which you can use dvdflick, convertXtoDVD, or AnyDVD. If your interested in it, give it a look on the forum of TPB
I still use ROXIO on my computer, and also this version of Nero. And let me say that the difference in speed is amazing. Nero v6 doesnt lag and burns pretty quick, unlike Roxio. Great version of this software.

No disrespect to the uploader, I just thought I should inform that there are even lighter and newer Nero 6 versions out there. I'm using an ultra light version of 6.6.1.4, it's only 15.1 MB, and it doesn't require any install or patching. I've used it for a couple of years, and it's the best Nero I've ever had. I bet it's still out there, if you just search for it.

And I completely agree with that statement. I DON'T see the point of running a 64bit OS when the vast majority(still apparently as I typed that a while ago) of software is coded in 32bit ONLY. For right now, but I may eat those words one day, I don't see the point of having more than 4 gigs of ram. I need an OS to be 100% compatible with nearly every thing out there written for it, not be slightly faster but only work with less than 13% of the software available.

Anyway there should be a 64-32 compatibility mode in Vista 64. I know that Nero WILL infact work with Vista 32, but like most 64 bit OS's there usually is some sort of way to run 32bit programs without installing anything, especially if your talking about 'user friendly' Windows.

A 32 bit OS has a 4GB memory limit, however on windows xp/vista, because of the way it manages memory, the "real" limit is around 3GB to 3.5 GB depending on the specific hardware.
A 64 bit OS has a theoretical memory limit of approximately 17,000,000,000 GB (17 billion GB) of RAM.

Was simple to download and install. Under compatibility options, I didn't have the XP option, so I just left it unchecked. The first time I ran the program, it told me there were known compatibility issues with this OS, but I just said "don't tell me this shit again" and closed it out.
As I stated before, the program works frawressry.

this program works on Vista....
1) extract the content of the Nero60019.exe with winrar on a temp folder
2) right click on setup.exe and check compatibility / Run this program in compatibility mode for XP SP2...
3) run the setup disregarding Vista warnings
4) run the register.reg
5) right clink on "C:Program FilesAheadNeronero.exe" and idem 2)
6) run nero disregarding Vista warnings

This version of Nero does in fact work in 64-bit windows. I tested it with Windows 7 64-bit, specifically.
Use this serial, obtained off Astalavista:
Ahead Nero Burning ROM Enterprise Edition 6.6.0.0
S/N: 1A21-0009-3030-1464-3496-8237
Now, this will let you into the program, but when burning you will get an error that states "SCSI Command Aborted." To fix this, switch to compatibility mode for Windows 2000, and it will work fine. My guess is that XP compatibility mode is 64-bit, whereas Windows 2000 was only available in 32-bit, and so is forced to emulate that.

Hello there fuwad84! I downloaded the program, and followed the stepps that you have written. The program is up and running, and I am able access the "Burn audio CD" option. The problem occurs when I have listed my songs, and are about to burn my (damn) CD. I get this error message: "Burn process failed at 24x (3 600 KB/s)".. When I read the log, it said "SCSI command aborted". I can see that the person who wrote the previous post (thermopyl) is trying to resolve this, but I can't really understand what he is trying to say. Any idea of how to fix this problem?
Got Windows 7 64-bit...

hmm it sounds like Nero thinks that your pressing the eject button the CD drive or something like that. Look I'll be honest, this program was never meant to work on 64 bit OS's and my experience with emulation modes is shaky at best.
hmmm, try this but it may not work:
Go to %root drive%\Program Files\Ahead\Nero
right click on nero.exe, go to compatibility mode and try either Windows 2000 or Windows XP sp3, personally I've had better experience with sp3.

To switch to Windows 2000 compatibility mode, go to the Nero executable file, right click on it, and choose properties. Choose the Compatibility tab at the top, and there will be a check box and drop menu titled "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" Choose Windows 2000 from the list, launch Nero, and you should be good to go.

thanks for this, been searching for a nero torrent that works for ages. why is it nero is the only burning program that allows you to set gaps between songs to 0 seconds. this should be in EVERY burning program!!!!

spoke too soon. installed fine and everything but it did say has a compatibility problem with this version of windows when i tried to burn. i ignored and burned anyways. i set the gaps between tracks to 0 seconds from tracks 2 onward, and burned (it all worked fine and fast =P). but when i played them on a cd player, it plays track 1 fine then gets stuck on track 2 and starts counting backwards from 99:99 on the time track. it plays all the songs, but sticks on track 2, never going on to 3 4 5 etc, just track 2 and counts backwards from 99:99. when it hits the end of the cds it just repeats the last little bit of the last song over and over and over, and the countdown from 99:99 still continues. i'm assuming it will repeat this last little bit until it reaches 00:00. also, when i put it in it lists all the tracks and the total time, but if i try to start it on any track beyond track 2 it doesnt play and gives up and quits on me.
do you think this is just because i have the gaps at 0 seconds? or is it because of the incompatibility issue it reported when i opened it? please if you're still rummaging around thinking up awesome things to say in posts, please let me know if you've heard of this and know of a fix =P. other than this the program worked great !!

your not gonna believe this but alot of times it depends on the age of the CD player as well - especially if its like an a car thats 10 years or older. Anyway I'm just gonna assume thats not the case.
Try setting the gap back to default 2 second as it could be fooling the player into thinking that track one goes on for an hour and a half and never ever goes to any other track.

OMFG IT WORKS ..IT ACTUALLY WORKS..UNLIKE NERO 10!!!!TOOK AROUND 3 MINUTES TOTAL INSTALLATION TIME AND I confirm this to work on vista 32 bit fucking tried nero 10 installation took 30 minutes...I don't have that kind of time to be waiting to fucking burn a fucking disc! DOWNLOAD THIS SHIT!!!
