If you start the autorun, it will start the custom installer.

You download this release and mount it with daemon tools.
Then copy everything on that CD into a directory of your choosing.
You then dl phoenix unpacker and update it then you use it to unpack the "sim" file in that directory you copied the cd to. Then choose were to unpack the files to..........

You have to download Phoenix 1.2 (link is already posted in the comments somewhere) and follow the instructions on that download page.
Phoenix 1.2 tricks the Mafia2 download to think that its installing to steam, but you're instead installing directly to your harddrive and can play it manually. no steam needed.

I tried using the crack on this site, the one that claims its working. I used it and got to menu screen, pressed start "demo" and then it blacked out and went straight to desktop. No error message.

Ive been reading ur posts on this game for some time now. You make it seem as if its very easy to crack this game. Can u give me a step by step please.
First off ive already downloaded the Elite version of mafia 2. I used phoenix as instructed to extract the game.
I then copied the mission scripts over to the demo version mission script folder.
After that i used the beta crack to replace the exe file on the demo as well as those folders that come in the crack package.
My game goes to menu, then wen i press start demo it goes black then bak to desktop. I know its not my video card.
Any suggestions for a fellow gamer in need .

Hey Guys
I have both xbox360 version and Pc version of
mafia downloaded. I have only 2 dual layers discs
left and im burning kane and lynch with one.
So im trying to figure out what the difference is
between the xbox mafia and the PC version.
Graphicwise, whether Apex is on the xbox, and so on.
Can someone please tell me if they know. Trying to figure out if i should wait for the crack for PC or just go on in with the xbox copy.

Tried using the zhongguo crack that just came out and the game is working but it says "authentication failed" at the top of the screen while you're playing. All the controls are reversed and your health is always slowly draining. I guess this is a big FU by 2k for a pirated copy. Looks like we'll have to wait for a real scene group to release a properly working version.

OK HERES A GUIDE TO MAKE THIS WORK 100%
1) download phoenix 1.4 beta. (google it)
2)Mount this iso with Daemon tools lite (latest)
3)Open Phoenix 1.4 then go in the ''instruments'' menu. Then select ''sid unpacker''.
4) Select a destination folder for the game to be installed in.
5) Now select a .sim file. To do this you have to manually browse and find it on the mounted iso. This file is called Mafia II_disk1.sim
6) Now click the ''scan a SIM file'' button. Some folders will appear. Now click the ''select all'' button then click the ''unpack'' button.
7) BINGO let the program unpack the files. If you get a registry error in the end its fine. Just force close the program (phoenix)
8) Download the reloaded crack on TPB and apply it. The password for the file is ''gala32''
9) enjoy a fully working game, no bugs.

Just go into your steam mafia folder and overwrite with the cracks there and play it from the folder. not steam.

type in google phoenix extractor and install it after that open the extractor and select
it will update the files
after that
select instruments>sid extractor
and then press "scan a SIM-file button below it will open the computer drives for u in that select the mafia 2 mount image and open it in that select
mafia 2_disk1.sim file and click the unpack button...choose where u want to unpack it and after it unpacks it...copy and paste the crack from the v3 one to the mafia2>pc folder and play the game from the mafia2.exe :D
in unpacking it will show u the lang selected and if u select only eng size will be around 5.80gb and if u select each and every lang thn size will be 7.06gb
so try it and enjoy

2,download Pheonix 1.4 beta (google it)
3, extract pheonix to where you extracted the os
4, click on pheonix exe
then click /instruments /update contentdiscreption record/internet
it should download something
5, then click instruments/sid unpacker/then click sim packer browser /locate Mafia II_disk1.sim from where you extracted the iso/create a output folder for where you want the game to extract/click scan a sim file/select all/ unpack
6, after it upacks you will get error message .
locate the pheonix process in windows task manager and end process or /log off /reboot
7, then download a crack for it that has been posted here
8 and add it to -your game folder where you extracted it from pheonix / pc
then play the game and stop bitching about it not working: )

Do you try to start the game from the folder? Because that's what you're supposed to do. Steam should not be running..

I used a phenix program to transfer the whole game to specific random folder and then enter the"PC" folder and paste the crack and the steam file which comes with the crack. When i try to start the game it just comes up that the game has crashed and asks to look for the reason of the crash etc. Very annoyin... Worked due with the other released crack which apperently gave me virus.. And now with V3 as i explained...

The crack you should be advertising is the v3-proper crack, even though it isnt up on piratebay yet.

Ik kon de files ook niet verplaatsen totdat ik in mijn antivirus(Avg) het .exe-bestand bij uitzonderingen plaatste zodat deze dus niet wordt gescand door Resident shield.
Daaran kon ik het spel gewoon starten.

Performer81: I did open Mafia II_disk1.sim but like i said a error page shows up.
What i did is that i open Phoenix 1.4, then i (Update content Description Record/ Internet).
Afterwards i had clicked (SID Unpacker), i clicked on Destination Folder: C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\MafiaIIDemo.
As for the Sim File i clicked on HD DVD-ROM DRIVE Mafia2 and got the Sim File from there.
Sim-File: J:\Mafia II_disk1.sim
I then pressed Scan a Sim File, a error page came up, so i pressed Unpacked and same damn error page.
And yes i did clicked Select All.
Is there a way around this or do i need to update something or?
I never used Phoenix before, if this was a Razor911 or something i would had been gotten this to install already. lol

I finally got the game to work after using Phoenix 1.4 to extract game and then cracking it. (Also installing DirextX 9 user-runtime to replace the DLL I was missing.)
Unfortunately the game freezes on, I think, Chapter 7. The next time I try to enter a vehicle it crashes, no matter which vehicle it is. I guess I'll have to wait for a newer crack/fix.

Alright, it seems instructions are scattered around 16 pages, at random.
I downloaded everything correctly (crack, Phoenix etc.), but it won't work. I get to the type cd-key screen, and without Steam running, nothing simply happens.
Now, I deduct I am doing something wrong - obviously.
Can someone give me a through and through guide of how this works? I mean, I can't understand, people talk about a demo folder - am I supposed to download the official Mafia 2 demo before I do the whole cracking routine?
I can't figure it out, Phoenix confuses me. I finally got all the files movable, through a bit of warfare with my computer, but now it's just the process.
So, can someone talk me through it, nice and easy? Where do I extract what to, how do I avoid Steam and so on?
Any help would be very much appreciated, though I understand if this is a lot to ask.

Question, i just did a format of my computer, i have installed all the latest directx, and physx drivers.
I have unpacked the game with phoenix 1.4beta, i have copyed the cracfix from skidrow. However when i double like the launch file or the mafia 2.exe, nothing happens.
I tried installing steam, but when pressing the exe file then, it launches the steam mafia 2 store.
What the hell is going on? I have followed the instructions 100%, but when launching, nothing happens :/(

I figured out a solution by chance within 30 seconds though. With every Steam-based game I've seen, the cracks usually always come with a modified steam_api.dll file. I assume that is the file that bypasses Steam and goes directly to the game.
So take the steam_api.dll file from another Steam game that was cracked (like Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days) and replaced the original. The game should start after that.

Just finished this game and I got to say. It is terrible. The end is a big middle finger to all gamers who played this. as if 2k Czech says : "Hey you just spend €40,- on a crappy game, Ha-Ha!"
I finished the game in 9 hours and all you do is drive and have crappy gun fights. I really expected something of this but instead I got screwed. The Story goes down to up to down and below. You have no own way to play this game, and even if you think you do its gonna be taken away from you.

Okay I need some help with this...
I downloaded this torrent. Then downloaded the SKID crack that stun approved as of the 25th. and I downloaded Pheonix 1.2 from a link that someone posted a few pages back since any 1.4 link I found was corrupt with WinRAR and would not repair.
I made a "Mafia II" folder on my desktop and extracted the this torrent .iso there. I followed the steps on page 12. Once I do the " extract/click scan a sim file/select all/ unpack
" step do I unpack it to the MAfia II folder on my desktop? Or does it matter as long as I copy/paste it in?
But after that I unpacked it to my downloads folder where there was now a "pc" and "PhysX" folder. I copy/pasted it into the "Mafia II" folder.
(Side note: on the crack file download there was the .rar file to extract then a .sfv file, is that important? I jsut left it alone). So I opened the crack file "Mafia.II.Crackfix-SKIDROW" where I copy/pasted "dlcs" "mafia2" "steam_appid" and "Steamclient.dll" into the Mafia II folder on my desktop.
Now what do I do? The crack fix doesn't replace any files in the game folder. If I click the Steup.exe from this torrent it just opens up steam and asks for a cd key. and if I click "mafia2" form the crack I get some bin or blk.132 error.
Any help is appreciated.

Ok so I had trouble installing this game but now it works fine. So here's a short guide.
1. Download the game
2.Download phoenix 1.2 ( not 1.4 ) go to instruments > Updatecontent > internet
3. Now go to instruments > Sid Unpacker
4. Select the .SIM file in your downloaded content and scan it.
5. Select the game in top and select everything else in the other white screen. There's a button for it aswell but it doesn't take the game in top screen on my pc so. Make sure to select it.
6. Press Unpack! ( make a new folder blabla, unpacking can take very long )
7. Go to your mafia2 map and put the crack in the pc map. ( along with the Steam thingy. )
8. Change the date of your computer after 28 of August. You won't need this if your American.
9. Enjoy yourself. ( Try to get a proper crack, I use the V3 crack now but its kinda laggy somehow. Got to chapter 10 with no problems. will inform you on the rest.
10. IF THIS GUIDE WORKS FOR YOU AS IT DID FOR ME, COPY IT TO OTHER TORRENTS of Mafia 2.

YESS!! If you use Phoenix you're extracting the gamefiles from the sim-file. So don't extract this to the folder where you extracted the iso silly.
Ok so you've apparantly unpacked the iso to your desktop. Just open Phoenix 1.4 beta (then let it update first!), select the simfile and point Phoenix to a folder where it should extract the gamefiles.
In THAT folder there's a new folder called 'pc'. This is where you put the crackfiles in.

Very nice game only when the game is finished you can't play for fun. Wich is shit cause dont want to start from the beginning again.
The info from page 12: Gilly's explanation works perfecly. Just apply a good crack. I used the v3 crack wich get removed by avg (and maybe other a-virus programs) Just put .exe in exemtions and it works fine.
Game does crash sometimes (2-3 times) the further you get (especially when you crash hard into another car) but just restart the game and it works fine again.
My comp. is not supposed to be able to play the game but it worked anyways.
Follow the steps and enjoy the game

This is getting old. I've tried every install instructions here and nothing works. I follow all the steps to the letter, and it all goes smoothly, but the game just won't start.

I can't get past the steam product key. I unpacked the download and went through the phenoix instructions. I mounted it with daemon tools and cannot get past this. I tried copying skidrow's v4 crack and it won't help.

Alright so this was pissing me off for a long time, for all those who are still confused, no need to go through all the comments and figure it out.
Download:
follow the instructions for installation of COD4 on the above web page except replace wherever they say COD4 with Mafia 2.
After this, copy the crack and Downloadable Content (DLC) to the folder where you have advised phoenix to install the game.
I am now with the PhysX problem and not the CD key problem which is much more manageable.

you wont find the crack here so go search online for mafia 2 crack reloaded.
people commented on the torrent as being fake and passworded but its fine believe me. download the crack and use the password: gala32 to extract the files. Then if you have issues with chapter 7 download mafia 2 v3 chapter 7 fix which you also wont find here and have to search for online again. thats all, goodluck
