Once the download has finished open up the file ... you will have two things ... there is a .dmg file which I assume will contain the installer ... there is also a text document which (again, I assume) will contain the serials ... simply install Office and, when asked, enter one of the serial numbers ... simple as that! (hopefully!)

Fast download (thanks seeders!) and easy install (less than 15 minutes from start to finish) on a MacBook Pro Notebook 1.67 GHz PowerPC G4 running Mac OS X version 10.4.11 (Tiger).
Regarding a users comment about backwards compatibility - go under your "Preferences" tab and look in the "Compatibility" section - should be apparent what you would need to do there to help when opening former versions of Office documents.
Also when saving a new document or a document created in a former version of Microsoft Office be sure to select which type of document to save it as.

Turns out Microshaft is as big a pain in the ass on a Mac as it is on a PC.
If you want to update Office 2008, you can't rely on the AutoUpdater. You have to download the updates from the Microsoft website:

Then open the updater disc image (.dmg) and drag the updater inside onto your desktop. Open it from there, after dragging the disc image to the trash. Also, be sure to restart your computer after each successful update installation.

IF YOU HAVE "PROGRAM IS ALREADY IN USE" ERROR:
When you want to install, or run this version of Microsoft Office (any application - word, poewrpoint etc) if you are sharing a network with someone who ALSO has a pirated copy, you will get this error.
To SOLVE: simply disconnect from the network (in Nephrito's' case, likely the college internet) and then carry about your business. That is all you have to do.

I'm encountering a error when trying to install update 12.1.0. Screen pauses on "examining additional volumes" at destination select screen, when "go back" is pressed, followed by continue, get this error:
You cannot install Office 2008 SP1 Update (12.1.0) on this volume. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume.

Good up - works as advertised.
Coupla caveats: there are not 14 serials - several are dupes. If you are installing on multiple macs that may be on the network at the same time, remember to write down who is using what serial. You can change it afterward, but it's not as easy as you'd think, so it's best to avoid that situation.

Just thought I'd add my $0.02 to the conversation... this install was extremely easy... then I used the "check for updates" function within word to update (first to sp1 aka 12.1.0, which was a 180mb download, then once sp1 was installed, it found another update called 12.1.5). In general, as far as applications go, it's pretty safe to say that Mac 2008 is one heck of a stinking pile of garbage... even for microsoft's standards... buggy as all hell....
That all said though, this install, and the subsquent microsoft-update-driven updates worked with absolutely no corollaries... Sassquash, you rule!!!

Be carefull : after installing all the updates available i can't run the program anymore (serial is not valid anymore).
I run Little Snitch but it seems its not revelant in this case : invalid serials must be in the last updates.
Anyway i run OpenOffice, i just used Office 2008 to get the last fonts included cause people use them and send me .doc files using thoses fonts. Now i know you just have to instal the free XML compaitibility thing to get the fonts anyway?
Use OpenOffice instead :)

First off a big THANK YOU to Sassquash. Just wanted to say that it worked on my Mac OS X 10.4.11 and I have it updated to 12.2.1 Once I got MS Office 2008 going I got 2 updates to work with no problem by opening up one of the applications, like Word, then >Help>Check For Updates. But that only updated it so much. After that it wouldn?t let me update it to the latest updated version so then I went to:

and got it updated to 12.2.0 with no problems and didn?t have to use any codes to install the updates. All was good and easy-everything worked great.
Then I went for updating to 12.2.1 and after that I couldn?t open any of the applications. Fortunately, I read previous comments saying that the solution was simple and it was. Just try opening one of the applications-like Word. It wouldn?t open the application but opened a pop-up. Click on the BLUE LINE in the bottom of the pop-up box and the webpage that it takes you to will show you what to do. When it asks for the ?valid product key? use the code:
W339P-JRCPB-XX8XD-YK49M-7DYCW
All of that is what I got from other comments and it worked for me-hope that helps someone as it helped me.

ok, Mac users, for I just jumped all the Serial numbers need, yet, everyone could do it so, this is the explanation step by step.
1. open the Dmg, it will pop the Microsoft Office 2008 "instalation disk"
2. Control+click on the icon of the "CD"
3. on the menu click on "Show package contents"
4. Double click on the "Contents" folder icon
5. Double click on "Packages" folder
6. Comand(Apple)+a
7. Comand+o
(you can decide wich content to install, also to install the other stuff in "plugins" folder and review the stuff on "Resourses" folder)
8. ENJOY FREE!

Rosetta is easy to install. it's on your Snow Leopard disc. Just stick it in the disc drive and install it. I had to install rosetta for printer driver compatibility issues.

It worked initially but failed after the 12.2.3 update. I got an invalid product key prompt. However I searched around and I found one of them that worked. The keys are easy to find just check the other torrents.
If it fails after the latest update do the following:
"How do I remove and reenter the Office 2008 product key?

I downloaded this in March and used for 3 macs. Worked great until just recently when got the message that my product key was invalid. This happened on the 2 macs that have been updated to Snow Leopard, but not as of yet to the mac that has not been updated. Do you think there is any correlation with the upgrade and getting the invalid key code message? I trashed those copies and download this torrent again on both macs running snow leopard, and now get a message re: a damaged database when I open one of the components (word, excel, etc), so am frustrated as hell!!! This is probably not much help, but I haven't any problems with this torrent (aside from Mac Office not having Publisher) and I've got all the latest snow leopard updates. So I don't think it's snow leopard, I think it may be something funky you're doing/not doing when installing.

Thank you Sassquash for posting this and thanks to everyone for seeding, this was much needed. I bought my mac with a complete version of office bit after my last "critical" upgrade it said my product key was no longer valid. I was pretty distraught till I found this.
I did the install and used the first product key, worked without a hitch and I am up and running. ..
I do get a message when I open any of the office products that there is a problem with my office database, but as of yet I haven't noticed how this affects productivity for my use...
If anyone knows what this error affects or how to correct it I would love to hear about it, but so far it seems to be rather trivial.
Everyone who downloads this should seed AT LEAST once... I intend to leave it up for a while...

If anyone tries to update this version and gets the error:
"There is a problem with the office data base" dialogue box every time office opens. Here is the solution:
Delete the "Main Identity" and "Main Identity Backup" folders located in
/username/documents/microsoft user data/office 2008 identities
Empty trash, restart and that's it.

:smh: Why don't they work anymore? Because a bunch of num-nuts put the cdkey on blast by posting it and now MS is all over this and have patched the updates against these keys. I'm having a problem with Microsoft once its installed. Whenever I try to open any of the programs (word, excel, etc) Microsoft setup assistant opens up and asks me to create an Office identity. When I click continue, another screen comes up that says Microsoft Setup assistant has encountered a problem and needs to close. I'm being prompted to send an error report, but I don't. I've tried downloading a couple of different times, but I still get the same results. Any help would be more than appreciated.

I am going to download this and will report back. I've put this off for years (have Office 2004 and it works great) but now there are .dotm and dotx and other f-cked up formats that require you to have Office 2007 or later. This is how they force everyone to "buy" newer versions.
