Soweto Strings shows Rosemary as a demanding but beloved mentor, inspired by the whole-hearted way that the students have embraced classical music. Following the progress of one concert, this truly uplifting film also reveals the difficult lives of many of the students; how working in an orchestra has given them a sense of community and structure, and in one case, a passport to a better life. Documentary telling the story of a British music teacher's adventure in the black township of Soweto in South Africa, enabling kids to transcend the constraints of their environment and find hope through creative involvement in music.
