great astronomy app. i got the torrent here at piratebay. today i searched for it and found it no longer here so i created one to share. this is my first torrent upload, i hope i did it right!

Tried installing via mounting the software images as well as burning the ISO's. It ran through the install really quick, created a starry night folder and didn't install the app. Any suggestions?

Ok, I got it installed. Had to run the installer in compatibility mode for XP. Not sure if its because I'm running x64 or if its just a bad installer.

Sunseeker908, no, is same for me, i tryed some time, whit my windows 7-64.
1-mount first DVd whit ultraIso virtualreader CD, with windows explorer, go to exe and right click /XPsp3 compatibility + administrator
2-After you need quick time 6 or+
3-after is you want install update in your kit , make same compatibility

Very Nice. Burn the 2 ISO discs. Instead of autorun, go to "my computer" find the disc>right click "explore">right click "install Starry Night.EXE" to "properties". 2nd tab in "Compatibility" choose "XP Service Pack 2" mode. "Apply". Also "run as administarator". Then double click "install Starry Night.EXE".
Takes a long time to install, but be patient.

Explore disc (2?) and find a zip file named "USNO". Just copy the file to your desktop. Unzip and run in compatibility mode as stated above.

Took me 3 days to complete the download and will seed at least a month. Thanks to the previous commenter’s info. Compatibility mode is a must to install, Windows XP (Service Pack 2)

if you right click on the installation .exe before you left click to install, a pop up opens. click properties at the bottom of the list, a window will open, click compatability from the menu boxes at the top of the window, you'll see the 'run in compatability mode' option, check the box and select windows xp servicepack 2 from the drop down menu. then click ok and left click the installer as normal and it should install fine for you.

Starry Night Pro Plus 6.0.3 doesn't install on Mac OS X Lion it said can't install on Power PC I read somewhere on the net it need at least the latest installer I think 6.4.3 to even install it on lion

to load onto mac 10.7 or 10.8 first download snow leopard server and run it in parallels, then open both iso image file and install starry night. Then transfer Starry Night app from Snow Leopard to Lion. Then download updates from Starry Night

If you have an older Starry Night 6 installation disc (6.3.1 or earlier), the installer may not work on Windows 7 without some easy changes.
First, visit http://www.java.com and install the latest version of Java on your computer. This is required for older Starry Night installers.
To use an older installer on Windows 7, follow these steps:
With the disc in the drive, click Start -> Computer.
Double-click on your optical (DVD/CD) drive to view its contents. (Ignore or cancel the program if it starts to install.)
Right-click on the Setup or Install icon and choose "Troubleshoot Compatibility."
Follow the instructions on screen. If you are asked for a compatibility mode, choose "Windows XP."

Could anyone help with what to do with the USNO file? Nothing I did seemed to work but I can't tell. I successfully downloaded and upgraded to current version. This download has 6.0.1 to 6.0.3 and then upgrade direct from Starry Night's site (without needing to use the Service pack 2) upgrade to 6.3.3 and 6.3.4.
I am planning to buy a telescope from Orion - Starseeker II 102MM which uses this software.

I have windows 7. I try to open the starry night cd 1 file with bitzipper, and it says it may not work because its a mac .dmg file. How do i get this to open and work for windows 7 so i can install it??
