anakinattack30 (2009-04-03)

caish, you are a legend.
Keep up the great work

vroomfondel (2009-04-07)

Took me a couple days to find this here, but wanted to thank you caish5 i watched this show in it's limited run in the states in '80 and always wanted to see the rest of the series. I don't have the fastest upload but i promise to seed this to a minimum of 500% (as i have done all the others you put up here)

a01020304 (2009-04-10)

I thought the H264 might have been better but you can see loads of lines on the film but also fast sequences are blocky

mawoodhouse (2009-04-10)

a01, wtf you complaining about? .....The video is good, why you nitpicking?...just be glad you have it.

 Knaster (2009-04-13)

When will vol 37 be out?

stephenuk (2009-04-14)

i have to say that i am a bit disappointed as i have downloaded all the prisoner torrents up to this episode, but the h264 format screws up the play back on the ps3, with zig zag green lines all over the screen, totally unwatchable on anything but a pc. Even tversity don't convert it properly either. So i'll just have to manually convert these to divx's or mp4's instead. :(

xmastv2007 (2009-04-14)

Sorry Caish, but I'm not a fan of the H264 either.
I preffered the previous encoding, thanks for always making the effort though

a01020304 (2009-04-15)

although i said i did not like the new coding its growing on me. fact is the video seems more lines is the original dvd is poor quality, seems when shock released these they did not upgrade the video and make it good quality, i have bought the first 30 episodes and the quality of the dvd is poor so of course the rip coding will be poor too.
i am happy with the new coding as the video size is much better and quality is better but can easily get rid of the lines by using a piece of software. so caish5 continue in this coding... as although many wont admit it the video is much clearer and more colors. :-)

caish5 (2009-04-16)

Yes the original DVD's are lousy. However there's no question the video quality is better in these ones. The improvement may also be partly due to better deinterlacing. So i propose that the next 10 comments be votes for either Xvid or h.264.
Your choice people.....

xmastv2007 (2009-04-16)

Xvid

tippy1 (2009-04-16)

As always people would holler if they were hung with a new rope. Just appreciate the effort of having what you've gotten so far.
Which ever is fastest and easiest for you to do is fine by me. Thanks very much for sharing all these caish5. I know the time it takes to convert a dvd to individual eps.

mchris1w (2009-04-16)

Caish I prefer xvid

stephenuk (2009-04-16)

lol whats everyone expecting Prisoner HD or somat come on its like 30 years old, no amount of encoding is going to improve that, i would prefer divx or xvid screw h264 keep that for blue ray. I just like a nice format that i can play on any device, i.e tversity for my ps3, which H264 SUCKS, its not even watchable, i mean, the screen is totally garbled up with green diagonal lines on the screen and warped picture. DIVX or XVID Please.

stephenuk (2009-04-16)

and caish5 you have done a grand job :) but the h264 colour codec in mp4's don't work properly on the ps3, they play, but the picture is garbled and disorted. Every other realse you have done plays back perfectly on the ps3, i don't want to watch these infront of a pc which can play back h264 correctly, i wanna relax in front of the telly to watch them :)

a01020304 (2009-04-17)

Keep the h.264 coding

a01020304 (2009-04-17)

if some of you cannot play h.264 or picture looks garbled, then you need to update your codecs..
download them via http://www.free-codecs.com
the K-Lite package is the best to download and use Media Player Classic to play them, that small program can play all possible formats video and audio.

stephenuk (2009-04-17)

the picture is not garbled on my pc, its on other devices which you can't just download codecs for. As they just support standard divx or xvid codecs.

dingodooo (2009-04-17)

Luvin the new coding, hope to see more top quality rips from you. only 4 more to go. good on you.
dont listen to the rest the new code is good, i say keep it :-) love you and your rips.

pidonex (2009-04-17)

I vote going back to the old way. I hate to sound ungrateful after you have gone to all this trouble it's just I have all the others that can work on my PS3 but then I get to this part and I have to watch them on my crummy 13" laptop.
Big thanks for posting them in the first place but please go back to the way you were doing them as the picture quality was never a problem and the compatibility was much higher.
I know this is really cheeky and I have no right to ask really but if you could redo this pack in the old way I would be most grateful. Even if you redo them after you have finished all the others. It's just having a collection of 692 episodes and knowing that 25 of them will not work is just a tad frustrating.
Is there a way for us to convert them and still keep the quality?

pidonex (2009-04-17)

I can't beg enough for you to go back to the compatible way, honestly the more I think about it the more gutted I am. The picture quality on the volume 1 to 35 were just as good as it was back when it was on TV. In fact it was better because the second time I watched them they were on Channel 5 which had only just launched and it was a terrible picture. So I can't really see the need for h264.
Please Please Please Please Please Please Please (I would go do type please like a million times but I feel that might annoy folk)

dingodooo (2009-04-17)

I like this new format
Remember most people watch these on Pc not on a ps3 or similar
Think of these rips as a bonus, if you like them you should buy the DVD, it is what I plan to do, I have bough several discs between episodes 80 and 200 and will eventually get the full set but they are so expensive
There is many software out there that will let you convert video no matter what format it is on and change it to anything else, you will just have to look for it, google is your friend.
Many people have never seen these episodes so we are glad to have them online and available no matter what the format it is coded in. The quality on the H264 is stunning, as someone else said the quality of the dvd may be shit so it will show up on a clear rip, but just be thankful it is even here. Caish5 seems to be the only person who rips these so be thankful.
He and several others agrees that the new code is good, so stop complaining and either watch your rips via a pc or look for software and convert it yourself, it is there so just look for it, or buy the real DVD yourself.

ta4pcbh (2009-04-18)

I just registered to say a huge thank as I have been really looking forward to this pack and I have enjoyed all the others. When the show first aired I only caught it towards the end and it hooked me big time, I started watching it when Rita Connors showed up so as you can see I am close to going full circle and for that I can't say thank you enough. I hope the DVD's are released in my area as I would love to own them.
I also signed up to give my 2 cents on this codec issue. Having watched all the other rips and now the first few episodes of this pack I honestly can't see a difference in quality. If you can, then your eyes are a lot better than mine and I have pretty damn good eyesight but perhaps the rest of you are trainned in the art of spotting tiny differences.
So the way I see it is 264 means only a limited amount of people can watch it on their prefered set, while the old method meant everyone could watch it on their prefered set. As the picture quality is about the same - I honestly can't see a good reason to freeze people out.
So I vote, go back to the old way.
--
Pidonex, there are various software solutions that could help you but to be honest they take quite a bit of technical know how to work and they normally take several hours per file even on the beastiest of rigs so it probably wouldn't be worth the hassle for you to do this. Especially not for a full 100 episodes. Best you can do is hope that Caish5 grants you your wish but don't be shocked if he doesn't. Just think how long it would have taken him to rip pack 36, now imagine how annoying it would be for him to have rip it all again. (though I must admit, it would make you even more of a legend Caish5 if you did - it's always nice to have a full collection with the same settings, compatible with all devices)

stephenuk (2009-04-19)

theres not really a difference at all in picture quaity divx looks just as good, the only difference is the resolution of the rips are now 704x574, just make the divx's in that resolution. No one watches a soap in front of their laptops or on a pc, i would never watch a film sat all upright on a computer chair to watch a whole series of soaps or a film, you want to relax in front of your tv, and i have tried converting them to divx but it still keeps the h264 colour space and the same garbled result occurs on devices that dont support the format, try and imagine trying to run ntsc on pal or vice versa, its very simular.

stephenuk (2009-04-19)

and i'm watching them on a 50'' lcd and the divx's before where around 640x480 res and they look just as good as standard definition cable tv. The only difference with the mp4 divx's is they dont retain the interlace so the picture quality is very different to what prisoner really looks like, it has a more filmy type of effect, as the interlace is lost, where mpeg 2 retains it.

dingodooo (2009-04-19)

I will repeat this again:
Remember MOST people watch these on Pc not on a ps3 or similar
Think of these rips as a bonus, if you like them you should BUY the DVD, it is what I plan to do, I have bough several discs between episodes 80 and 200 and will eventually get the full set but they are so expensive

stephenuk (2009-04-19)

well thank god the the people who want it to be divx is the majority :p

stephenuk (2009-04-19)

h264 dont make it look more stunning its cuz these rips are in 702x574 higher resolution, and why not rip in a format that suits everyone not just everyone who wants to watch them on a pc, if you want it in the best quality then why don't YOU buy the dvd.

EricPost (2009-04-19)

I'm just grateful to watch the show again
Thanks.
You can use avidemux or VirtualDub to put any DVD you rip into a wide variety of formats. And the programs are free.
You can download them at
http://snapfiles.com
or a lot of other places.
They don't have a great manual so it'll take you about an hour or two to get the hang of using them. But they work well. You can also get the codecs from snapfiles for free too.

EricPost (2009-04-19)

Also if you have the file and want to make a DVD then try
DVD Flick.
It's a free program too and it will create a DVD you can watch from an AVI file or MPG file or other formats

RogerUk01 (2009-04-19)

Given the choice I say keep the new format. It is what i would have used in the first place, always go for the latest and best coding/codec.

pidonex (2009-04-20)

@dingodooo
I don't know why you felt the need to repeat the whole thing. It's not like people couldn't watch the first 35 packs on their PC. It just meant that others who wanted to watch them on other devices could.
Besides, what makes you think most people watch them on their PC.
As for the buying the disc's, you have to understand that they are not available everywhere and importing them isn't all that feasible because you can only change the region of your machines a couple of times. If they are ever made available in my country I will buy them, I have already spent 100's on dodgy tv rips from when they were on Channel 5 with fuzzy pics and poor sound quality, so getting these from Caish5 is great but like I said not so much with the new codec because they are not compatible with my main set up, so I am limited to a small screen to watch them on.
Isn't the whole philosophy of Pirate Bay to make content available to people in a format that they can use, in a way that they want rather than a restricted format? I am just glad caish5 is willing to listen.
The thing about a TV show like PCBH is that it appeals to older people like my parents and their friends. They wouldn't want to sit in front of a PC to watch it, especially not when they have paid 1000's for their TV and not everyone wants a PC in their front room.
Another point to make is that there are nearly 700 episodes of PCBH, to watch them all on my computer would take months as I need my machine for work on evenings so I would probably only get through one or two episodes per night. Where as on the PS3 I can have that on in the background while I get on with work.
These are just some of the reasons to go back to the more compatible way. Ultimately it is Caish5's decision and either way I will still be grateful to have them but I honestly can't see a good reason to lose compatibility.

stephenuk (2009-04-20)

well i'm sure now that we have at least 10 people like caish stated about the preferable format to use hopefully it will be divx or xvid, as i said h264 is better for hd movies and bluray, no amount of encoding is gonna make prisoner look any better, it was recorded on video tape in the first place. I did however manage to get it to work on tversity after a ludicrus amount of configuring of ffdshow etc but its still very buggy at times and not very practical. You should have to go to such lengths just to play a simple video file, and caish's previous where just that, download and play on ALL devices, where now with h264 you have to totally rip your system of codecs and reinstall all sorts of stuff and edit config files.

pidonex (2009-04-20)

lol, that was a dirty place to leave it wasn't it. I just finished watching the pack and even though I have seen what happens next before I can't fully remember and I am on the edge of my seat waiting.
Given that I can remember the very last episode extremely well I know what doesn't happen but that isn't the point. lol. I would gladly take the next 3 episodes in youtube quality just to watch them lol.
Thanks for these files but if you leave the next pack at such a point I will hunt you down caish5, you hear me, I will hunt you... down!

caish5 (2009-04-20)

Ok i'm gonna go back to Xvid. And i'll redo this set for compatibility. But i'll keep the improved res and deinterlacing. I think this'll be a happy medium.
Thanks for all your feedback.

kmce (2009-04-22)

i only seem to have sound anyone else with that problem

pidonex (2009-04-22)

You are THE MAN! A fk'n LEGEND!

stephenuk (2009-04-23)

caish your a star :)

kmce (2009-04-23)

everytime i try and play this it says error downloading codec anyone know what to do to fix it

xmastv2007 (2009-04-23)

Its f*****g sh1te h.264 coding, thats why all you guys above are having problems. Cut the downlaod, do a new search and you'll find caish has re-done volume 36 in xvid. Sorted.

pidonex (2009-04-26)

Wow, I never expected such a quick turnaround - thank you very much. I will get right on the others now.

a01020304 (2009-06-12)

Does anyone have the complete 324 episode as the ones that was ripped and put online was missing the last 10 minutes
If we get that we will all have the complete set.

mchristy63 (2010-11-18)

Poor quality on PC. All shows studder and skip. Not at all worth downloading unless you want to find a way to try to view them properly. Out of all of em this one sucked the most.
