In case anyone is wondering, the difference to the sinners release is not small, is not big, bug HUGE.

 [D] (2008-12-07)

Yes. And 700mb rip is a good as blu-ray. Or so some say.

Sinners has reds as orange, atrocious grain loss, small details gone the drain, even eyelashes in pic2 are gone.

You sir are an idiot.

xiIix (2009-01-08)

Oh give me a fucking break. I've been working with encoding for over 13 years so don't even try any of this shit with me. If you are trying to say that the esir rip doesn't have mistakes then you're downright ignorant.

jabijabo (2009-01-24)

xIIx, your comment seems very interesting but we cannot understand what your conclusion is. You are not clear... Who is the best to your opinion? Or is there none? Anyway, this debate is very interesting. It made me check through (=watch) a few dozens encoding of each (Esir vs. sinners). Personnally, I must admit that ALL ESIR encoding were much better DETAILED than the sinners one. Sorry sinner but you got to improve to the best possible image quality because we do not spend days to get a 720p just to get a zoomed DVD. And it happens way too often. Thanks a lot jonny for all the rare releases you've posted, like Requiem for a Dream, for example. But it was dissapointing to see it quite blurred for an HD. So, was the original bad or just the encoding????

toopb (2009-04-26)

OK gentlemen, I was not sure which rip to get (sinners/esir) because of that stupid dispute... so I got both. I can't tell whether screenshots posted by [D] are genuine but they definitely show the difference between both rips so use them as guide which one you want. Sinners' rip is missing fine detail BUT has 4.6G, esir on the other hand has all the detail and 7G. So both rips are fine and have the same "detail:size" ratio... oh. esir has more subtitles muxed to the movie (thats plus for esir) but my language is missing anyway (that's minus for esir :) ) so I'll have to re-mux it anyway...

Many thanks for the upload.
I've snagged both the SINNERS version and this one. The SINNERS rip is sourced from the very inferior Canadian Blu-ray. In short, it looks terrible. This ESIR rip comes from the Australian disc and looks terrific. The video quality of the SINNERS rip is a 5/10, while this superior rip is a 9/10. There is nothing wrong with the encoding of the other release, it simply comes from a horrible source.
Please keep this torrent alive, it's the only rip of this movie in HD that looks good.

Slainted (2010-05-09)

ESiR's quality is wonderful, but am I the only person frustrated by the subtitles? They're so big, I feel like I'm turning my head while reading them and can hardly see what's going on.
I thought it was just this, but ESiR's There Will Be Blood has the same annoying subtitles. For that it's not a big deal cause it's in english, but I don't want to watch this for the first time wholly focused on reading what's going on.
I tried a subtitle track too, but it didn't line up right. Maybe something about the Australian cut theshape mentioned?
Anyway. ESIR: PLEASE CHANGE YOUR ENGLISH SUBTITLE TRACK. YOUR ENCODES ARE TOO GOOD TO NOT BE FULLY ENJOYED. Thanks, man.

crassconsumer (2010-06-14)

thank you! I have the same problem as Slainted though, and the subs appear dauntingly huge on the screen. Does anybody know how to fix this?

filip001 (2011-02-15)

there is a loop in the movie
after 1 hours it returns to about 35 min

ESIR are clearly superior, though by no means perfect.. WIKI & DON are also very good..
