Film obiluje nikad prikazanim arhivskim snimcima i intervjuima sa akademicima, diplomatama i građanima otkrivajući nerasvetljene činjenice perioda raspada SFRJ. Synopsis The Weight Of Chains presents a Canadian perspective[citation needed] on Western involvement in the division of the ethnic groups within Yugoslavia and argues that the war was forced from outside, while regular people wanted peace. However, according to the author of the film, extreme fractions on all sides, fuelled by their foreign mentors, outvoiced the moderates and even ten years after the last conflict the hatred remains and people continue spreading myths of what really happened in the 1990s. This film also presents positive stories from the war – people helping each other regardless of their ethnic background, stories of bravery and self-sacrifice. Archival footage was provided by Radio Television Serbia.

Super je sto ima ljudi kao sto ste vi koji delite ovaj film.. Hvala vam! i ja se trudim da ovo vidi sto veci broj ljudi, jer jednostavno nisu znali nista o ovim stvarima bas kao i ja. Ali film me prosvetlio, otvorio mi oci tako da sam shvatio da sam bio slep svo vreme kao i vecina zitelja stare JUGOSLAVIJE..

Film je dobar 7.
Moja licna zamerka je sto nije oznacio Vuka Draskovica i njegov SPO,kao jedan od tri glavna temelja za raspad SFRJ,a potom i Srbije i Crne Gore,pa i samih cetnika.Zajedno sa Tudjmanom i Izetbegovicem je glavni krivac za raspad SFRJ.
Draskovic je doveo cetnike,tudjman ustase,a Izetbegovic balije.U svakom slucaju nije los,ali je mogao da bude i bolji.

It's just a propaganda film financed by the serb government. The killers pretend to be the victims. See the criminals Karaxhic and Mladic who are behind the bars. They will have the same fate as Milosavic. They will die like dogs in jail. They have deserved it.

Yasushi Akashi, former UN Representative in Bosnia, admitted in the Washington Times of 1 November 1995, that it is a fact that the Bosnian government forces have used the "safe areas" of not only Srebrenica, but Sarajevo, Tuzla, Bihac, Gorazde for training, recuperation and refurbishing their troops. In other words, the so-called safe areas were used as military posts to train Mujahedin fighters from Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Turkey and the entire Islamic world, free to commit their treachery by attacking Serbian villages and returning like thieves in the night back to the safety of their UN protectors who conveniently looked the other way to these violations. Prior to the events at Srebrenica, these Holy Warriors of Islam. had attacked 42 surrounding Serbian villages and over 3,000 Serbian villagers had been slaughtered without fear of being reprimanded or punished by the UN. Yet, when Serbs were provoked to retaliate against these Muslim assaults from these so-called safe-areas, they were condemned by the entire world.

Towards the end of the book 'The death of Yugoslavia', the writers comment on how EACH of the factions in former Yugoslavia consider themselves to be uniquely the victims ... most of the factions consider that events that happened 10 years ago, 50 years ago or 500 years ago justify any outrage perpretrated in recent times by their own side ... most of the factions falsify, exaggerate and distort crimes commited AGAINST their own side in order to justify crimes commited BY their own side.
I'm afraid that reading all the bile on this page is truly depressing ... it looks an awful lot like an awful lot of people can hardly wait to get back to hating and killing. Then, if that happens, perhaps another smart film-maker can come along and blame it all on the sinister forces of Capitalism.

I am a Serbian refugee from that damned war that lead to so much violence, hatred and spilled blood and all in vain. I was a child when my mother and grandmother carried me as we travelled to safe haven somewhere in Serbia while my father was on the warfront. I know the Serbian side of the story.
The Croatian war heroes plan was to extinguish all that is Serbian in the new Croatian country. One third of the Serbian population was to be exiled from Croatia, second third was to be catholicized, and the last third was to be slaughtered.
The "Oluja" operation is glorified in Croatia as national victory over Serbs. A mass murder and exile is celebrated every year. Trouble is that the whole world has seen only one side of the story, not both.
This hatred among Serbs, Croats and Muslims has been infused in our minds by our beloved leaders. I often see kids who don't have a clue about the war that happened here but the hatred is in their minds.
