I was wondering if you could help me out. I did like the instructions said, but when I hold down the shift button and click update it goes right to iTunes to download it. Do you have any suggestions?

sorry for the Firmwire and not firmware. lol xD
this is not beta. it's the official 3.0 release ^^
try to disable your network when you shift-click the update or recover key. it may work
