Kings Quest VIII: The Mask of Eternity (1998)

King\'s Quest: The Mask Of Eternity is the eighth installment in Roberta Williams\' long-running and famous King\'s Quest series of PC adventure games. This time, you don\'t play as Sir Graham, but as Connor, who must find pieces of the Mask Of Eternity, which have been scattered throughout the land, to make his homeland of Daventry alive again. Along the way, he encounters danger in many different environments. This is the first installment in the series to be in 3D, and is more of a platformer than the prior installments of the series. It is fueled by point-and-click puzzles and action, none of which are too complicated. Enjoy this great action-adventure game, ISO made by me, no crack or serial required!

How the heck do you get this game to run? I downloaded everything, burned the image to a disc using Nero, But when I try and install it it does nothing! Tried using DOSbox, but that didn't work either. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, and I'm running this on XP

Mount up and set setup.exe compatibility mode to win9x, then run setup.exe. You'll probably want to block attempt to install Direct X 6. When setup completes, set compatibility mode for the .exe or shortcut to win9x and you may want to disable visual themes. Should run swimmingly.

hey people use a glide wrapper to run this game in glide mode you can have full graphics then ^_^

alright so i installed and started playing, but the game stops after i find the axe, then it goes to a cut-scene of that magic hog thing asking for the mask piece, so Connor says "lets fight for it!" but then it just sits there, it doesn't freeze or anything, but i just can't do anything. it pretty much sits there loading until i close it down, any ideas?

Oh, and I'm running this on XP" first you install the game from the disc or the mounted disc image if using virtual cd or like software, also you can use virtual pc if you dont have a windows 98se or windows me pc handy or perfer to play on your own normal high end pc, but you have to have lots of skill to get it to work with that, esp if you want to emulate best graphics with the sierra graphic card. (I recommend finding a rare pc with that card used somewhere that still works to play this) step 1: install step 2: search for nocd fix v1.3 don't freak out its a crack installer but from trusted gamecopyworld or trusted amoung fellow pirates anyway. step 3. find official patch follow directions in the readme that comes with it install patch v1.3 then copy files from cd to cd dir under game dir and modify the mask.inf under game dir not cd dir to say new dir. then run crack exe from game folder. All should work. good luck.

Okay, I've discovered a few things. First, in order to run it on XP, you need a special program. Second, unless its the updated version available for download at GOG.com, it WILL NOT play on Vista or Windows 7. Compatability modes don't work. Hope it helps.

Guys! I made that game to work on Win7, and i guess it will work on Vista too. You don't have to buy GOG.com version. This solution if officially from Sierra. Sorry if you won't be able to understand som things, because i'm from Poland and i do not speak English perfect ;)
First download that game if you don't have it (you can have the original CD version too, or burned from iso). Then go to that page: and click on King's Quest Mask of Eternity option. By doing this, you download official Sierra installer, which will install the game on newer operating systems, and make it able to run on it.
When you download it, mount game iso. or instert game CD if you have, run the installer, choose install path, then choose on which drive you mounted iso or have insterted CD. Let the game install, and run. It worked for me on Win7.
The installer also have Gilde Wrapper, so you can play on 3dfx graphic option.
