Description:

release: January 2009 genre: electronic / ambient / experimental quality: V0 VBR mp3 Chris Zabriskie's new record, The Dark Glow of the Mountains, is as much a stark departure from his last three albums as it is a logical extension of them. Zabriskie has left behind his voice as an instrument- as he has the acoustic guitar- and created a record of unique and strange beauty. Based solely around pulsating and swirling organs, pianos, and synths, Zabriskie built each song by loading in individual notes and chords into a drum machine, then recording the album by performing it live, start to finish, in one evening. Influenced both by his past work in experimental music and his love for 70's space music such as Ashra, Tonto's Expanding Head Band, Vangelis, and Edgar Froese, the result is immediate, sparse, and hypnotic. The Dark Glow of the Mountains will be released on January 1, 2009 via chriszabriskie.com. Chris Zabriskie The Dark Glow of the Mountains 1. The Dark Glow of the Mountains (13:10) 2. Bretheren, Arise (7:27) 3. I Need to Start Writing Things Down (7:11) 4. The House Glows (With Almost No Help) (5:58) 5. We Always Thought the Future Would Be Kind of Fun (7:14)
