Katie tiene una decidida vocación política y es consecuente con sus ideas. Ambos se encuentran y se enamoran. Tras un corto noviazgo, se casan, pero el matrimonio no funciona como creían.
CRITICA: Famoso y nostálgico drama que muestra la evolución en el tiempo de los devenires amorosos y profesionales de una pareja. Como curiosidad el compositor Marvin Hamlisch, Oscar por la banda sonora original, ganó ese mismo año otra estatuilla por la banda sonora adaptada.
