I've seen in other threads that the crash/minidump issue is a result of SoaSE not being patched to the correct version. Dunno if that's the case (or if it is, how to find the patches).

Works BUT get the Second EXE he mentions in the comments on the torrent page. Also for windows vista etract to a seprate folder than something in /program files/ etc as it will not allow extraction of exicutables.
Thirdly to fix the dump (when the files are all correct versions as all the files except the exicutable are in the above torrent (he does provid a link to correct exicutable))
START a normal sins game first then leave the noramal games. That is start sins of a solar empire .exe start a skermish game then exit to windows, then double clikc on sins: entrenchemnet and enjoy. TEC FTW.

After much trouble trying to update to 1.15 (so i can install expansion pack Entrenchment) I have finally found the updates needed, after tooo much time in google I came across this website which has the patch direct download :

I've been having the same problems others have noticed. But I think I figured it out. The problem patching 1.15 and then installing entrenchment is because the directory is wrong. After you install from the ISO and start the patch, check the directory it wants to install to. For me, it tries to install to a non existent directory, so you have to manually select the proper directory, the same applies for the entrenchment patch. I have 1.15 workings properly this way, and am installing entrenchment now... and it works. So try that. I think thats why ppl get the minidump

Wow, I love this game. Ok you need to mount it with a image mounting tool such as Daemon Tools or PowerISO. Once you mount the image and install the regular game you then mount and install entrenchment (sr-entct) to the same folder. !!! Make sure its the same folder!!!... After that you replace the .exe file with the Sins of a Solar Empire Entrenchment.exe file found in skidrow folder. When that's done you need update it to at 1.15, The torrent that RagsOfSilk metioned is the one I used.

works perfectly. Have run it on XP, 7 and Ubuntu using Wine.
Be prepared to lose a few hours of your life every time you hit that desktop shortcut though..

to every one that downloads this game buy it i found that it runs much better if you activate it for real it doesnt lagg around and you get better stuff out of the updates it doesnt cost to much go to wallmart and get it or watch stardock for sales on it just the other day they where offering 50% off on it so buy instead of pirating it.
