Description:
This is version 2.5.7.
I know it is not the current one, but any version is better than none if it works.
Been tried successfully on a G5 PPC.
Am sure it will not work on an Intel as the program is some 3 - 4 years old.
Burn the downloaded .dmg file onto a CD using Disk Utility from the Utilities folder in your Applications.
Insert the CD and restart, also holding down the C key. The application window then opens. Out of interest it took about 1 hour to carry out the tests on a G5.

avincent......just burn a CD and follow the instructions. It will work. Please check the useful comment from Britmick above for suitable Macs.avincent (2008-10-15)
this torrent doesn't have any files other than the 4 pdfs...what bootable files are you referring to burn? my burn only shows those 4 pdf's on both my intel g5's....chuckie6 (2008-10-15)
use Disk Utility from the Utilities folder in Applications and burn the .dmg file you have downloaded. Do not open the file to burn. Do not be concerned with what files are in the image download.chuckie6 (2008-10-15)
Just noticed that you seem to have burned a disk. If so, put the disk in and restart holding down the C key. Good luckavincent (2008-10-15)
did what u said...loaded it in my intel mbp w/ c and a restart...not a bootable disk and what disk utility burned only has those 4 pdf'savincent (2008-10-15)
also did a reboot w/ my ppc g5 and still no bootable disk...avincent (2008-10-15)
also tried in my ppc g5 - no bootable disk, same 4 pdf's only...chuckie6 (2008-10-15)
Sorry can't help further. My burned disk is called ASD Dual Boot 2.5.7
there are 4 pdf files, ASD Read Me v2.5.7, ASD Test Results Guide for G4 and G5 Computers, ASD User Guide and Thermal calibration Results Guide.
There is also a pdf file, Burning ASD to disc, which is opened by Preview.
The indicated capacity of the disk would appear there may be some hidden files, but that's only a guess.
This will not work on an Intel as indicated by the first comment.
This worked on my G5 iMac running OS X 10.4.11, not sure about 10.5.
Can someone else help?

Opening up Terminal to display hidden files will show 12 hidden files on the CD.ScreamingDeath (2008-11-26)
To the person who got this running on the G4 MDD. When it boots up, all I get is that it won't run on my system. How did you get it to run on your G4 MDD if I can't get it to even recognize my system?LaZenMonk (2008-12-23)
Does NOT work with 1Ghz TiPowerBook G4 15"in. System unsupported:-(iphonerulez (2009-03-22)
Just for reference. I was able to produce a bootable disk, but I got the message that my computer was not supported. It seems the disk didn't support any computers earlier than 2004. My computer is a G4 1.42 DP FW800 MDD (OSX bootable only) which was discontinued in 2003. Looks like I'll need to use an earlier ASD.And whoever got this disk to work on an MDD, I'd certainly like to know how it was done.
Still, thanks for the upload.

At the Apple Store, I watched a Genius select from one of about a dozen Apple Service Diagnostic disk images on his external hard drive to diagnose my Mac. Each image is specific to a small set of Mac models. E.g. different MBPs require different images. The Genius used a tool on his iPhone to figure out which image to try. His first guess was wrong (I didn't know offhand exactly how old my Mac was.)I'm going to try this on a G5 iMac with 10.5. I don't think the OS matters, just the model (e.g. late 200x xMac or whatever...)

Works fine for my PowerPC G5 2x1.8 GHz.Passed the whole test in 1 hour 25 minutes.
Didn't solve my problem unfortunately : too many fans running inside, too much noise.
As previously said : Burn the .dmg file on disk. Restart your computer holding down the C key. Perform the test and when finished click Restart.
Very easy.
Thanks a lot for sharing this program.
