:D Dude Cronenberg is a twisted canadian one of a kind lol check his earlier movies, like VIDEODROME, or later 90s CRASH or existenz -not full blown "horror" but twisted weird. Oh and check by him the one about the freakish twins with Jeremy Irons thats some sick shit ... not horror per se, but freakish disturbing...
As for oldskool but with high levels of craft and quality check REANIMATOR surely scared the shit out of me when i watched it 100 times as a child, inspired by a not widely known lovecraft tale.
If u are into telepaths and heads bursting to pieces lol how about Carrie (the first one, a classic) and Christine (travolta and his ghost car). To follow S. King adaptations, Pet Cemetery I, now thats huge and some deep spine chilling unconscious stuff in there. Night Shift (more S. King) = average. The Dead Zone -more disturbing than gore...
Oh and if u havent give Pinhead a try check HELLRAISER= sick, sick sick. A bald pale sick fuck with 3000 nails stuck at his head and wearing full leather well that surely scares the shit out of me lol (in so many ways lmao)
Now for European SICK TRULY SICK sadistic horror= Dario Argento= phantom of the opera, deep red, etc.
Hope it helps surely its a thrill when u get properly scared n take a trip to the wildside :D those were oldskool times there were above average craftsmen at the time (we are talking Cronenberg....) good scripts, good writers and directores, proper fans of the genre and some sick shit to get ur heart pumpin :D

I dont know how the screenwriter came up with this concept but some of what he came up with is true. Let me begin by saying that I am a sane college student that just turned 24 and realized a week or 2 after that i do have the ability to control minds depending on how hard i focus. i always convinced myself that it was all coincidence but now I know thats not the fact. I hope im wrong but i dont think i am. As soon as i figure out how to control it, im going to apply for the randi million dollar challenge. Ill describe the sensation when it happens. It feels like an electrical current coming from the top of my head to the receivers top of the head, kind of like an arc. my theory is it feels like an arc because space and time isnt linear so to send the message thats how it gets sent. I'm not a scientist so take it for what its worth. I know youre probably thinking nah no way this kids insane but trust me theres too much evidence to say otherwise. I came back to this movie looking for answers but it looks like this is mostly fiction. theres really no point into going in more depth of this craziness until proven but if anyone else out there knows what im talking about please comment.
