cheers bricktop i know u and pristine always do pukka copies but do u know of any1 else that is doin good copies for the ps3rutherford2009 (2009-04-04)
more great work bricktop - would LOVE to see some more action films when you get a chance (particularly Casino Royale)...thx again for your time and effort!!shankdizzle (2009-04-04)
Jezmew, If Bricktop or Pristine let me know how this is done, i'd go out and buy a Blu-Ray drive tomorrow just to release more titles for you and everyone else. I've asked them prior but no responses yet :( I have a bunch of movies I wanna rip for everyone's PS3!!! :Dteabag87 (2009-04-04)
shankdizzle,step 1: But a bluray drive. Doesn't need to be a burner, just a player. You can get a "LITE-ON" brand for 79$. I got a LG for 99$
step 2: Download Ripbot264 (its free)
step 3: Download Anydvd hd (its not free, find a cracked one, we're all pirates here)
step 4: Download tsMuxer (you wont need it everytime, but sometimes you will)
step 5: get a big hard drive if you don't already
Thats everything you need as far as hardware and software
As for step by step instructions:
-Put Bluray in the drive (duh).
-Right click the Anydvd hd logo next to the time on your taskbar and click "Rip video DVD to hard disk" (This will make a bunch of folders, the only one that matters to you is BDMV>>STREAM)
-Open Ripbot264, click "add" in the bottom right, select the biggest 'm2ts' file in that "STREAM" folder
-RipBot SHOULD automatically take care of the most of the remaining tough stuff
-On the bottom you can choose mp4, mkv, or bluray-disc, chose bluray-disc
-change "mode" to 2-PASS
-select "LOCK SIZE" on the bottom right and type 4090 (to be safe, 4096 is the max)
-Audio PROFILE, chose 5.1 AC3 640kbps
-Video PROFILE, chose 4.0
-Set a destination (where your computers gonna write the converted movie)
-Click DONE, then START to Start the conversion
-Your finished movie will be in the same BDMV>>STREAM folder, but in the destination folder, it will be either 3.99gb or 4.00gb.
Faster the computer, faster it will go. My old computer was a core2duo e6320 and one movie took 12-18 hours. Now I have an overclocked intel i7 computer and I finish an entire movie in less then 2
If you dont want to buy a bluray drive just yet, you can download the MKV files off of pbay, and just convert them for ps3 using ripbot. They look just as good, and you don't have to be one of the annoying people that beg pristine and bricktop to do the movies you want
Hope that helps.

just wanna give credit to bricktop and google for helping me gain all that info over the monthscouple of links:
sorta helps with Ripbot, this guy does a couple things different but gives basic idea, and he has VOB files (DVD) when you'll have m2ts files (BLURAY):
http://a8t8.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!2518DD508BB713E8!453.entry
Theres a Tsmuxer link that has screenshots like that but I cant find it
On another note, you can use Handbrake but you will have to use mp4 format, which means no Dolby Digital, for that you have to use m2ts format, which is why we use Ripbot

bricktop, can u please get rid of letter-boxed (black bars) video? it really annoys me. i know, originally, the blu-ray movies have letter-box settings, widescreen or fullscreen. but if u would "RE"-encode it, u would've choose to display original aspect ratio (more likely widescreen). what u did was, u remained it letter-boxed and at the same time widescreen (16/9) setting. right? if that so, u are changing the aspect ratio and the convenience to see the movie because it has black bars in normal setting. because normally, black bars are ONLY accepted in Original Aspect Ratio as seen when setting the media player to full screen (output would be: widescreen or original aspect ratio). FYI only.
teabag87 (2009-04-04)
i vote to keep black barsoriginally ALL blurays had black bars. To me a full 16:9 feels like a DVD. Those bars make for better camera shots. If you were to re-encode it for full 16:9 you would lose a section of the picture.
the black bars are a signal of quality. When the black levels of a dark scene perfectly match the blacks of the bars, you know you are watching a high quality rip

Teabag if you have a Demoniod acct there is a torrent call AnyDvd Trial Renewer it is friken great you wont have to download another trial ever again.teabag87 (2009-04-05)
I downloaded one thats supposed to have a working key, but when you try to use it, your 21 day trial turns into a zero day trail. great. As of now im in business for 18 more days lolI did all the spidermans and they look incredible
teabag87 (2009-04-05)
shankdizzle,i think the i7 was made for people to pirate movies ha.
with my core2duo I was getting 5 frames per second when converting 1080p blurays. Sold that computer 400$ on craigslist and bought my i7 machine in parts from newegg for 700$r With this i've gotten as high as 120fps but I average 65fps
voopy (2009-04-05)
teabagi've been making m2ts files through megui for a while now with my 2.4g quad and that was taking 5 or so hours to get there but with not enough quality as the ripbot method...just figured out why i could'nt get ripbot installed until two days ago and now am encoding my 2nd movie this way....im only getting 7-8 frames per second now on 2nd pass of quantum of solace - and the process is taking 6-7 hours...BUT...and a big BUT this is - the quality for the file size is just like yours and pristines...AMAZING
voopy (2009-04-05)
i'd love to retire my quad but down here in australia the prices for a i7 cpu alone are $490 - 2.6g,$980 - 2.9g and $1800 - 3.2g and $500 or so dollars for a motherboard to put it in.... so i think i'll just do it slowly for a while yet...im not that flush with cash at the momentteabag87 (2009-04-05)
voopy, core i7 920 is the only one worth buying. When overclocked its one of the best cpus in the world.
In US, the i7 is $280 and a motherboard for it is about 200$ (I got an MSI, overclocking couldn't be easier)
I suggest finding an American seller on ebay willing to ship to you. I've shipped to Australia before so I'm sure you'll find someone.

I took a mp4 file thats too big for my external hdd(7.9gb) and I am trying to learn how to compress it and watch the movies on my ps3!
