Installation Instructions: -------------------------- 1: Download and install Microsoft Applocale, google it and install from Microsoft's website. 2: Mount the ISO with Daemon Tools or Magic ISO, BUT DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL YET. 3: Run Applocale and go through the wizard to where it asks you to pick an application to run. Browse to your Virtual Drive in My Computer where the Sengoku Rance CD is mounted and explore it, then click on als_inst.exe, then go through the wizard until it runs the program. 4: If you get an error in gibberish NOT Japanese then you didn't do step 3 right. 5: Once it's finished installing go here http://yandere.gray7.com/?page_id=90 and download the English Patch which is version 1.01 as of writing this. 6: Now install the English patch, once it's done it should place a shortcut on your Desktop, now run the play and game. Personally, I've tried changing system locale, installing the program first, etc. None of 'em worked.
My personal problem was having an error message pop up after the AliceSoft logo after running.
I finally got it to work with these steps (hope this works for any frustrated peoples out there.):
1. download Applocale (from microsoft)
2. download registry changer from this site:
(all it does is allow to use applocale to run a program by right clicking the program, it will probably(?) work without the right click option)
3. mount iso
4. download english patch from yandere
5. /b/ RUN ENGLISH PATCH INSTALLATION THROUGH JAPANESE APPLOCALE /b/
6. enjoy!

I did everything the instructions said and still got the error message in gibberish, the problem I think is that I cannot be sure I got the right language when using Applocale because it just appears as 3 boxes, however during the whole installation it showed up in Japanese fine, and there seemed to be no problem with the install, can anyone offer any advice? really want to play this game

I'm not sure if AppLocale is needed or not, I've had this game (not sure if this torrent) without it before. Regardless, if it is, and you're running an OS that isn't Windows 2003 or XP, gerrting AppLocale to install on your computer will be damn impossible unless you do this:

I allways get "cannot run program properly" error every time i try to re als_install, this also happens with all sengoku rance torrents, does anyone know how i could fix it? i'm using windows 7 if it matters

I download and do all the stuff needed and ended up install it successfully, but when I open segoku rance it always stuck with the girl dancing in the snow(loading scene) and leaves the window empty but the sounds are still playing anyone can help? I appreciate it

Followed these instructions to a tee. Sadly is not working for me. I've tried every tip listed here in the comments too, nothing.
I'm running Windows 7 64bit. It had DirectX 11 already, but some said you needed DirectX 9.0c, so I even installed that. Still nothing.
Run everything through Applocale, from the installer to the game, same results.
Every time (and I've even found different downloads of the game, not just this, just in case it was the file), I get the AliceSoft logo when I start up the game and then it gives a black screen and says that System40 had an error and had to shut down. Even without the patch and trying to run the Japanese version of the game, the same thing happens.
Is there anyone that can help? This is the first japanese game that I've not been able to get to work...

that install instruction is a pain and not needed i got it to work in 4 easy steps.
1.download english patch from here:
2. change your system local to Japanese
3. mount sengoku rance ISO(dont install)
4. run the English patch from step 1 and it should install the game and patch it and ur done.
see easy isn't it X-P

To anyone who is getting a black screen after the logo:
If you are running Windows 7, try downloading the latest version of Haali Media Spliiter (.7, I think) as well as dealing with the AppLocale business. Solved my problems, hope this helps.
