Description:
Thanks for trying out this title from Jawbone Studio!
The introduction and Part I are available to listen to free of charge. If you enjoy it and want to access the rest of the work, please send $2 viato [email protected]
/* */ I will send you the key to the self-extracting archive that holds the rest of the sound files. All files are at the highest quality VBR mono MP3 format.
This is my attempt to provide very low-cost, high quality audiobooks (based on public domain works) by using the distributive power of peer-to-peer networks, along with the security of common encryption tools. I hope to be able to earn enough of these small donations to justify the time and effort to produce each of these works. I would rather use this distribution strategy than force my prices up by using commercial sites such as Amazon or Ebay, plus fulfillment companies for pressing and shipping physical media.
At the same time, I hope to make my works attractive by lowering my prices as far as they can go (down to a small fraction of retail prices) while keeping audio/performance quality high. I realize that this may seem to go against the non-commercial spirit of peer-to-peer file sharing. But I believe this to be a legitimate and significant opportunity to provide a better balance between content providers and content receivers than currently exists, with record companies and publishers keeping prices artificially high and attacking customers through the court systems on the one hand, and file sharers cheating providers of any compensation for their good efforts and disrespecting copyright law on the other.
There are, of course, various free audiobook resources, such as Librivox, but the quality of their recordings is typically pretty dismal, which makes for unenjoyable listening. And there are also plenty of pirated commercial audio titles to be had in the file-sharing world. Perhaps the larger publishers can absorb this kind of traffic while still making a profit, but I clearly will not be able to do so. So, I ask you not to seed these files in an unencrypted format once you have accessed them. Please DO continue to seed the original, encrypted torrent to the extent you can.
There is no watermarking in any of my works, as I do not plan to play gotcha with people who have been kind enough to pay me for my work. I'll leave that to the RIAA et al. If my work ends up on the networks for free, I'll just stop marketing them this way, and lesson learned. I also am letting people know up front, in the title of the torrent, that a small payment is required, so that nobody wastes their bandwidth just to get a nasty surprise in the end.
Please feel free to email me with questions, or with requests for future titles to be produced.
Again, thanks very much for listening.

IMHO, this isn't the place to charge for "your work"
It's the first time I see a ThePirateBay user do this, and I don't welcome such atitude.
Well... this is just MY NSHO!

X2Rob:I understand your opinion, though I do not agree with it. I would ask that you do not put quotes around the phrase "my work," however, since this audiobook was narrated and produced by me, and took a number of hours to complete.
I may not succeed in this attempt at marketing my work, but it did take effort, and it bugs me a bit that you dismiss it like it didn't happen.
Thanks much,
JB

Dear JB
As I wrote, and I quote:
"Well... this is just MY NSHO!"
in other words, in case you didn't understand:
Well... this is just MY NOT SO HUMBLE OPINION
Take care and be happy!
