Venus project is just one example for an alternative, it is over the moronic right-left scale, "anarchy" gone where it should be.

If you've studied ancient human history, you know that religions were invented as a means to keep humanity

Wow! This is a great plain-English eyeopener for the sleeping. Though, there's alot of gleaming contradictions in the whoile "Venus Project" philosophy, for example, who would maintain all the robots? Who would build them? Nobody would have to work anymore? No money system? What the hell would people do all day? I've been unemployed for a month and I'm about to lose my fucking mind from boredom. Lots of good ideas, but lacking in practicality and forethought. I loved the section on elitist globalization, but got lost somewhere on Venus (which, coincidentally is a planet overrun by the greenhouse effect). Is this the same dude that did "Loose Change"?

For some reason, at this very moment (320 am GMT-5), I felt really compelled to come back to this page and offer my opinion on the religious topic in this movie that so many of you were upset by, that I didn't touch on before. I am seeing more and more in this country(usa) a negative, even hate-blaming war against religion, which is understandable when one considers the historical impact of religions upon society, ranging from suicide bombings in the name of Allah to the millions murdered in the name of Christ. But what we are forgetting, or turnining a blind eye to, is that all religions in essence started out as genuinely, benevolent and beneficial philosophies on how to live a peaceful and prosperitous life, but have been corrupted by man and turned into tools of control and coercion for the elite. This was not the original plan for any religion(aside from Jim Jones' "peoples kool~aid temple" and other atrocious cults). It is man's nature that impregnates every genuine doctrine to his greedy, fear~based benefi This is the true enemy of the progress of man, which the film highlights, but loses touch with when it claims that socially structured slavery is to blame rather than pure 'ol bad seed human nature. The fact being, that even in a perfect Utopian society, crime is not gonna just dissapear. But, all of the inherent phallacies in this film brought me to one gleaming epiphany...Man is flawed, there is no possibility of a perfect Utopia, and claiming that we are all side-effects of a badly drawn plan only reinforces all of the latter. And as far as Religion is concerned, to deny that we were not created by a higher intelligence and concede that we were randomly concieved in a mud~stew struck by lightning, goes against every truthful grain in my body. If one night, you can look through your telescope among the countless galaxies and solar systems and say to yourself "I am just an accident, nothing more", then its true that your only using 10% of your brain. I dont claim to know who we are,. where we came from, which religion or "institution" is right, but I am certain, that I am no "chance" or "accident". So, to say that religion is just a fairy tale tells me that your scared, or you have alot of thinking to do. "To accept the possibility of God is a start, but to reject it is pure arrogance"_ Me That is my "chime~in", thank you and good night.

Wow delron, that was an actually well thought out intelligent response for an internet comment. Though I disagree with some of what you say, I will fight to the death your right to say it. Some good points.
Yeah I thought some of the Venus stuff was a bit out there, but before we go saying Dick Cheney actually made this movie, realize that with all the conspiracy stuff out there, this is one of the only that focuses on a possible solution, so give it points for trying. Even if this Venus thing did work, I can't see it happening in any less than 200+ years considering the shape of things... So what do we do in between the world collapse and the techno-utopia/robot world? It's not gonna be pretty, that's all I can say.
I bet, though, if the Venus project works, in about 300 years we'll be watching a Zeitgeist telling us about the horrible institutions of the robots.... the terrible, terrible robots.
Pick your poison: evil flawed humans controlling you, or soulless, unsympathetic robots run amok... I think our only hope is some aliens coming and showing us all how its done...

And I am in complete agreement with you in the respect that any solution for change of the current mess is more than welcome and direly important, however, to truly submit a call for revolution of this magnitude demanding any respect from its proponenents will require much more than the few simple tenents that the Venus Project proposes. This is filled with great information, but the possible utopian, resourse based society discribed at the end sounds like socialism to me. The movie claims capitalism has failed, but we haven't had true capitalism for a long time. This film is like 90% truth and 10% socialist propaganda. It's true, there are incredible, suppressed technologies that could free humanity, but I doubt we could ever get rid of all the boring, mundane jobs.

So in other words, no centralization of any kind.

The Zeitgeist team has a stong stand point; expose the federal banking system, turn off your TV, don't join the army, make your home self sustainable, reject pointless politics and most of all, educate yourself and others. InfoWarmonger, machines can and are doing our mundane jobs. There are examples in the movie. What Jacque is trying to say is to get those machines to monitor and grow our food, build our houses, maintain our water system and for the whole planet, not just for America. We have the resources just "not enough money". Delron, in the Jacque's Venus world, you can still work if you like, but toward something that betters humanity, not some institution or profit mongering organisation. Nice heads up for the planet analogy but the name actually came from Venus in Florida, a place on Earth.

This movie leads a path to a more enlightened, tolerant and prosperous society - it is by no means a total solution but it points the way.
If you could "design" your own world/country, how would you like it to be? Personally I'd have to say that my own version would be pretty close to the ideas presented here.
I'd be happy to defend the notion that we are one species and we should be caretakers of our planet with the best means we can: technologically and socially.
Do not mistake the ideas presented for communistic ideas because that is plain wrong. Communism was an ideology born from a certain historical context: the emergence of industrialism. Communism as an ideology also sees it fit to gain power through armed revolution. The last thing we need in this world is more bloodshed. The idea of technology as a liberator is also lacking in communism.
Further, the notion of a resource based economy is vastly different from central planned economy or a barter system. The idea is new because it focuses on technology to basically solve this rather than any artificial redistribution of wealth. It also requires a different sense of ownership, but really, tribes in the jungle manage to go without this, even lacking possessive words like "mine" and "yours". How hard could it be once vanity of owning is released if you are already catered for? What is the purpose of possession?
As said, the ideas are not complete, but they open up for another way of life and should be examined seriously.
In Zeitgeist Addendum the ideas are clear and presented in a way that makes sense: it is not about belief but about accountability: what do we really do to ourselves and how it could be if we buried the profit-hatchet once and for all? No one is forcing you to agree here - just finally ask yourself: which version of the future do I prefer?
There is always a choice.

If males have a need to dominate and society can provide different forums for this, then is it not so that depending on what these forums are, social status comes after? Society determines what gives you status - culture is the determining factor.
Example: Two groups of men chasing a ball to make scores is deemed high on the status-ladder. Intellectual accomplishment is deemed high in certain stratas. Making the fastest car is too. In fact, wherever there is something to accomplish, if you can do it better than someone else then there is social value to be had. It does not have to do necessarily with money each time. People have hobbies that they live for and do not need to be paid for, yet still gain status. Ever heard of World of Warcraft?
Don't you like spending time on your hobbies regardless of any payment involved? Sometimes money is not even sought after in a hobby as it turns something of a leisure into a must/should.
If a person produces anything that is useful for society then of course it is a shame to put that under the rug, but let us remember that this is true for communism and capitalism as well. Justice can be bought these days, and it is heartbreaking to find that great inventors are being scammed off their creations so that huge corporations with armies of lawyers can grind them down to oblivion.
In Sweden there is Håkan Lantz, inventor of the colour monitor for computers and the GPS among other things. American and Japanese companies rightout stole his inventions, leaving him these days in a legal battle alone against these giants and no money to wield this legal and monetary warfare on the absurd notion to get a benefit from his own inventions.
On the one hand there is the motivation to do nothing, in a communistic society that invariably breaks down due to corruption and personal greed of those in power - but the same thing occurs arguably on the other end of the scale as well. Håkan Lantz gave young engineers the somewhat disillusioned advice "don't invent great things, stick to simple stuff and you'll be succesful". That means something is very wrong with the incumbent power in the world.
About Tribes. It is far too easy to dismiss those as primitive. Try living in their conditions to find out what you are made of yourself. I think most westerners would be crying for mommy not before long. Especially if you had to use what tools they are using. We can easily say we are more advanced, but perhaps we are just propped rather than anything else? Remove the support and who can live in the woods on their own these days? Jungle people.
Sex and power have their place in society but it is far from all that matters or we would not be much different from the male lion who has the biggest mane and mightiest roar. We do, as a species, have a genuine altruistic sense towards each other, society would not function without it. The sad part is that those that seek power are often the same that suffer from sociopathic dysfunctions such as narcissism and psychopathic tendencies among some. These personality types are attracted to power and often do whatever it takes to hold on to it, and climb higher still. Perhaps this is a part of the problem?
Jacque Fresco does not provide a full solution, but something else than status quo to go after. It is not necessarily the only way or the best way, but it holds some aspects that we all could benefit in pondering once in a while. In the least, it is much better to come up with alternatives and visions of a better future than only lamenting the past and present. The idea is to be constructive about the issues that hold us back - and it is in the end a Utopian ideal presented, let us not forget. But then there is no other claim made. Many ideas presented are very sound.
To live tomorrow in a better day than yesterday does require that practical real issues are sorted out, as has been so pointed out, but in truth there must also be a vision of sort.
Perhaps ownership and money is something inexorably tied to human nature, but then can we not change the nature

Hello Mr. Griffin. I?m sure you have heard of the popular movie on the internet, Zeitgeist. It had three separate parts about Christianity being fake, the Federal Reserve being a conspiracy and bad, and that the government was involved in 9/11. Well the sequel just came out, Zeitgeist Addendum, and it seems very dangerous. This movie screams controlled opposition/false solution propaganda more than anything I have ever seen.
The movie starts off with why the Federal Reserve is bad. It seems to latch onto valid concerns that the freedom movement/Ron Paul supporters have been worried about. But its solution is really, really bad and is already sending a lot of people in the wrong direction. It goes on to say that money is evil and has caused every problem in the world. If only we abolished all money and private property everything would be great. All resources should collectively belong to all humans of the world. Intelligent management of resources and technology could allow everyone to be free. The world would turn into some utopia. All crime would go away and greed and corruption would go away. We should be a one world community. It even specifically says that voting for liberty candidates like Ron Paul is the wrong thing to do. I guess we should give up all hope and let bad politicians do whatever they want to us.
It is full of doublespeak, wild assumptions, and crazy socialist propaganda. It also put in more about how religion is bad. I am convinced this thing was specifically made to stop the liberty movement from achieving anything. It puts in just enough truths that we believe in to trick people into following the wrong path.
I think statements about what is wrong with this film from liberty organizations like Freedom Force International would do a lot of good and would prevent some people from going in the wrong direction. Some people might think the best idea is to just ignore it and it will go away. But it appears to be incredibly popular online and gaining support. Even the most popular Ron Paul website posted the video. And the most popular Ron Paul message board has three threads with hundreds of posts talking about it. Here is the video link.

Jonathan, I don?t like to criticize anything that is helping to spread the truth about the Federal Reserve and 9/11 but I must agree with the substance of what you have said about this video. I watched it two nights ago and was deeply disturbed by its message. At first, I thought it would be best to just let it play itself out in expectation that most viewers would cross it off as whacky. However, the production value is high, the effects and sound score are compelling, and there is enough truth embedded in the beginning to capture the attention and possibly the trust of many within the freedom movement. So here are my comments on a few items of concern:
1. The information about the Federal Reserve is, for the most part, right on target. However, I practically fell out of my chair when the program repeated that old, silly argument about the Fed not creating enough money to cover the cost of interest on debt; and, therefore, the world must forever be in debt. I knew right there that the writer did not read The Creature from Jekyll Island or, if he did, he forgot my analysis of this common myth. For those who are interested in that topic, it is fund on pages 191-192 of The Creature.
2. The next jolt came when the program praised Civil War Greenbacks, calling them debt-free. Actually, Greenbacks were contrary to the U.S. Constitution and, although they were not fiat money issued by the banks, they were fiat money issued by the government. That was better than paying interest on nothing to bankers, but they still wiped out the purchasing power of American money through massive inflation. They can not correctly be called debt-free, either, because they represented debt on the shoulders of the government, which means, of course, on the shoulders of the taxpayers. It never

What I did hear though is that the idea in this movement is to eliminate any form of authority and allow competition on a level where to scientist or what have you compete to make humanity better or further our technological and scientific understanding of the universe.

Great show, I'd recommend it to everyone.
The Venus Project reminds me ideologically of the open source projects that are putting out better programs than their economically based counterparts are all across the world.
Not to mention TPB and the pirate movement that is so widespread across the net.
The idea that males would not be able to peacefully co-exist in this future world without economic competition is absurd.
I don't deny males need competition, however there are many ways to fulfill the need for competition without contributing to a system that inherently marginalizes people.
When I looked at the Venus Project website I didn't see a plan set in stone.
I saw a proposed means to an end.
A future where education and health-care is obtainable by anyone.
Where children didn't die of starvation.
Where the best idea is preferred to the most profitable idea.
Where one human truly has equal rights to another.
And the big point is, although we don't know how it will happen, by working together, using clean energy, using our intellect to come up with solutions to crappy jobs and social inequality, we can make it happen.
Although I'm no longer a religious person, I was raised christian, and I find it funny that ideas like this are so adimently opposed by the vast majority of Christians.

Just a hypothetical, but if Jesus were to design a society, with the knowledge that one option gives everyone everything they need to be healthy, happy and free. Do any of you honestly think he would prefer a capitalist or even monetary based system for a second?

Love movies like this. Always fascinating to see the inner workings of current day society. Of course the information is accurate, to most it is obvious if not in the minute details. It is of course naive however to believe for a second that a world with 6 billion people could ever be harmonious. First half of Zeitgeist Addendum is amazing. All that stuff about banking conspiracy is true, and is presented in a simple and understandable way, better than any other documentary out there. But just when you think that author is a true patriot, and that he is working for our liberation, then comes big disappointment... In second half he actually proposes NWO, as a solution for all our current problems!!! Lets recap what the goals of NWO are: Create one world government by forcing all independent governments into submission to the central "UN" government. Create one world state, consisting of few continent size provinces: European, American, Asian, and African Unions. Create one mixed "brown" human race, by forcing colored immigrants into all former yellow and white nations, thus gradually mix all races into one unified human "brown" race. These people will have no national or racial "basis" around which they can unite in resistance against their NWO masters.
Create one world religion, by gradually exposing all current religions as frauds, never mentioning that they created all religions in the first place to manipulate sheep into fighting each other. Create unifed "new age" religion to replace all those old warlike religions, whose slogan will be "love is the only truth, all else is illusion" - thus making us docile and powerless to resist. Create one world NATO army by gradually erode and discredit all nation state armies, under pretence that armies are to blame for wars, when in fact NWO organized all wars and revolutions in our history. Impose gun control laws and remove guns from citizens, so when time comes people will be powerless to defend themselves. That exact system has proven itself to be the worst kind of nightmare imaginable, people don't be just a blind sheep. Well, even if the makers of this movie are sincere, implementing the venus project would be incredibly difficult in present situation. Although addendum exposes money creation and fractional reserve system quite well it proposes a solution that is in my opinion not very feasible, at least not yet. Much easier solution for now would be doing away with usury in central banking scheme. Of course in trying to do so we would be met with incredible opposition from those who profit from this. To see what I'm talking about check Money Masters, movie that I think is at present much more important than addendum. It also addresses monetary system in even more detail than both zeitgeists and exposes the real underlying problem of today's banking system.

I'm not saying an anarchist system cannot work at all. Many times throughout history such systems have thrived in small groups. Such systems have also been miserable failures. I'm talking about groups of less than 1000 but usually less than 100 people. The supporters of this system always call people who don't buy into it stupid and ignorant. That type of reaction actually shows that this would not work on a large scale. The thought police like you single out people who think differently creating a superior class and try to oppress those who hold a different view. A communal system only works if you know and care about everyone else in your community. The major issue I have with this idea is that it implies scarcity is human created. To some extent it is (like government intervening in oil drilling) but resources are and always will be scarce. The amount of energy in the universe remains the same and everything will eventually turn into dark matter or dark energy unless we advance enough to turn it back into something we can use. The thing that is most scarce is humanity itself. People compete for the best mate. There are only so many pretty girls to go around. The only way to solve this is to engineer everyone to be the same or "reeducate" everyone. That is definitely not the type of world I want to live in. People are different so conflicts and thus competition will always arise. We just need a few things to ensure freedom.
1. Personal responsibility
2. A truly free market (unfortunately this does not exist)
3. Agreed upon principles
4. No double standards
All of these things exist in those anarchist communities you talked about so they work. A larger group needs some kind of law created by those agreed upon principles to ensure no one is oppressed and no double standards exist.

Having seen the video, that claims that the ZG movies are religious propaganda, I can say that it's total bull. It says that the ZG movement is a heresy called Theosophy and that it was founded by masons, satanists, quakers (!!!), and even Druids(!!!!!!!!). It also says that they will bring the apocalypse by bringing lucifer (not the anticrist as the apocalypse says) on earth and other bull that are not even mentioned on apocalypse. I wont deny that The Venus Project is a bit off. Someone here say it will happen in 200 plus years, A Project of this technological advancement and sociological thought (as the venus project) will take 500-1000 years to reach. Eventhough they say it could happen with todays technology, (possibly) it will not happen because of humankind state of mind.
I will like to refer now to DELRON40 and his comment on not work. Nooo, my friend this Venus Project if ever possible, did not imply that people will not work, but that throughout technology people will have more free time, to the point of almost not work. And if you are bored out of your mind for not having a job right now is because you have not get busy in doing something else. e.g I was cut 30 hrs of my 60 hrs a week job; at the beginning was a welcoming vacation, then as it happened to you, I stared to get bored out of my mind. So I decided to take on a project, I will get back to school to get a new major. So I did go back to school, now my job wants me to get at least 10 more hours but now I cant. Going full time to school and 40 hours of work is all I can handle. So now I am extremely busy. Since GOD doesn't come from the skies and show up at my door, I will assume he does not exist. That there is a bible? Is a book written by men in power. ( 2000 years ago people that knew how to read and write were the elite) so to me personally religion is and invention of some humans to impose themselves in other so they can live out their labor and keep them in submission. Anything short of that, I am sorry but I can not see it. If anyone will reply on this subject tell me the address of GOD or where he is at. Now are we an accident of nature? I dont think so. We are part of nature, every little detail and every particle in our bodies is part of nature. Every element in nature is part of us. So as you can see we are not and accident but a product of circumstances that if they are reproduce in another part of the universe will provide the same end result A HUMAN BEING. Our carbon-base composition can be duplicated in any part of the universe, because carbon is really abundant throughout the universe. Hey there must be out there higher life forms than humans and lower life forms also. And other humans why not. The universe is infinite as far as I know. So DELRON40 we are not an accident we are just part of it. Millions upon millions of tiny particles working together to form us, because conditions allowed. Simple.
The zeitgeist is a great movie, and hopefully the Venus project can be implemented one day.
To someone that state the human nature is full of greed and search of power. That's not true, humans are naturally good, and we are teach to take advantage of the weaker of mind. But if we teach the future generation differently they will act differently.
To conclude, I truly hope that one day it will be implement it the right of a human being to be educated for free, (since education is extremely expensive) and Cure for free. EDUCATION AND HEALTH CARE SHOULD BE FREE AND RIGHTS OF HUMAN BEINGS ALL OVER THE WORLD

They just use religion on the weak minded slaves !!! They twist its real meaning ! I use to have the same exact responce, oh religion is the cause of so much pain and war, so much hate.
But then if you digg a little deeper, you realize that no faith/religion condones killing or war, or half of what is done, and that those who play a hand, have no spirituallity ! And that really the key for some is to become more spiritual, what ever religion that is, be it none !

How can a movie that has been universially panned by critics, picked to pieces by serious scientists, a movie with doubtious facts, many wich are proven wrong or altered to fit with its theories have a score of 8,6 on Imdb?
Really, this films factual accuracy is so bad it's more than a little painful.
I can understand why somebody could be decieved by the partial truth this movie ocationally offers, but come on people!
