Windows Vista Recovery CD If you can't boot Vista and don't have the Vista CD/DVD: 1. Burn the image 2. Boot from CD/DVD 3. After choosing language choose "Repair your computer" 4. Start the "Command Prompt" 5. And write "bootrec.exe /fixmbr" to write to the mbr (vista start after reboot) or "bootrec.exe /fixboot" to write a boot sector (you have GRUB/LILO but doesn't have Vista Loader) 6. Reboot and eject the CD 7. Now Vista should start Very handy if your can't start Vista, becuse (eg.) slick7194 (2009-10-23)

Haa i needed this too after Linux(Ubuntu) Fucked with my laptop too stupid boot manager..

teacherdan (2009-12-28)

This just saved my butt. Could not get out of a endless boot/reboot in Vista. Used the disc, repaired the MBR, works like a charm. Why the hell don't the computer manufacturers include something like this? Oh, yeah, not service, but profit. Pity.

XtniasX (2010-01-03)

I'm having the same prob teacherdan is having.
@teacherdan: did you use a cracked version of vista black as well?
hoping for similar fortune. will post results.

ayjeezy465 (2010-01-25)

gm0n3y1818 (2010-03-01)

Hello everyone,
So im planning on going from windows 7 back to vista (too much power consumption, battery doesnt last even two hours barely an hour on power saver) and I want to know if using this torrent will work or if anyone has done this.

x-sail (2010-05-11)

Works excellently.

alecp130 (2010-05-16)

Hey so I'm trying to use this to get back to vista from Win 7 (Since it fucks with my internet connection) I tried mounting it but all i get are more files, I still can't run the disk. Can anyone help?

alecp130 (2010-05-16)

So I figured out how to boot it... but now in installation it says "unable to find install.wim."

ervn (2010-06-04)

supmaaah (2010-10-15)

hey!
I wonder which program I´m need to burn thr file with..
Or if I should burn it to dvd/cd/jpg/mp3 ?
does that matters?
thanks ! (:

Iam.trojan (2010-11-26)

I downloaded this torrent and it has saved as a zip file wat do i do next plz
apart from putting my lap top in the bath
fed up with it lol

m1rodrig1 (2010-12-17)

Lifesaver thanks worked perfect

jow9 (2010-12-22)

@supmaaah you burn the image(zip file) on imageburn or alcohol120% or any program like that that would let you burn the image to a cd or dvd burn in the slowest speed then just boot from cd on the computer and that's pretty much it follow screen instructions

z3rb0 (2011-01-13)

Thank you! I was THIS || close to factory settings!
Didn't have to use the fixmbr command though.

pyro12345 (2011-03-05)

@ Iam.trojan
use magic ISO or daemon tools to open the file, then just copy it to a cd and use the cd on the next computer

deathbein101 (2011-04-18)

is there a free software i can use to burn iso to cd

randokarja (2011-05-17)

TheBest!"

Thornton123 (2011-06-26)

Thanks for the great download and detailed instructions. Burned like a charm. Even though I'd already factory restored I still couldn't get on, and you saved me having to buy a new laptop or pay for an expensive repair. Thanks.

TheBariClariDude126 (2011-07-05)

this is PERFECT you saved my life! too bad i got windows 7 soon after vista crashed LOL

I proceed to boot the disc but nothing happens and then it says "BOOTMGR is missing". Any idea how to get around this? I'm using ImgBurn if that means anything.

phillydip (2014-02-17)

Made an accoun just to help for those who have problem setting it up i recommend wintoflash as the program all u need is a usb once installed go on task ,new then select transfer winPe vista then click create go on the format tab set file system on fat 16 lba then click run when done u should have a good bootable recovery usb :]

GuccizBud (2014-09-22)

Doesn't work for 64-bit Windows. Doesn't say that it would, either, but I didn't think of that when I got it. So if your Windows is x64 use this one instead :
