"The future starts now" shows that the future has bright possibilities. The climate can be saved with the help of smart energy technologies and renewable sources. The film's main focus is hope, opportunities and real solutions for how people can live and work in a way so our civilization doesn't collide with nature and that our energy consumption won't grow at the expense of a stable climate and a living planet. The film shows in a simple and inspiring way solutions for how we can live more climate friendly. Central is how we reduce the huge energy waste, streamline energy consumption and use realistic renewable energy sources. The film shows how ordinary Scandinavian people, house owners, farmers, municipalities, industries and communities in a realistic and rational way uses energy in a climate smart and efficient way. It may be important to emphasize that the film clearly takes distance to nuclear power as a solution for climate problems because we believe this is a costly and risky distraction with too feeble potential to reduce carbon emissions on a significant scale.
