Voyager was shot on 35mm film in 24fps but was edited on Standard Definition NTSC at 30fps using the 3:2 pull-down method and captured on D2 tape. This makes true HD mastering impossible unless it was re-edited from the original 35mm film. Therefore the best quality will always be the R1 NTSC DVD. The PAL version is merely a NTSC/PAL conversion with a simple enlargement of the frame, while the 30fps must be overlapped in order to achieve 25fps. That means loss of resolution and no genuine frames are left after being merged with the next or previous frame causing ghost imaging.
