Every converter also says that they can convert virtually any format. No ones dared to say they can convert from RMVB to any format?
From MTS (AVCHD) to FCP, you can use VideoPier HD.

tomh20 - FCP studio 2 will do it, or you can try iMovie HD to ingest the files then move them into FCP for non-destructive editing.
Lastly, I believe there is a way to do it with Toast by bringing them in and burning a disc, but I have never done it. I know that the iMovie HD trick will work. HTH :)
