The name "Gracie" is synonymous with jiu-jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts, one of the world's fastest rising cultural phenomenon. This was not made made by a film production company. This was made by a devoted film maker with a camera and a home computer, no funding, just blood, sweat, tears, and a credit card! Renzo did not make it either. i am glad that you feel they will make a lot of money, but what gives you the right to give it away for free.

I would probably never have found out about this movie if it wasn't for this upload. I live in Denmark, to far away for a US independent or private filmmaker to hope of any advertisement. I or a friend might buy this now. I'm sure I'm not the only one, which only goes to prove once again that p2p helps the small artists by exposure and only hurts the big companies.

Ok for one my name is not William, so leave poor William alone. Also I happen to know both the film-maker and Renzo. The film maker would rather not have his work stolen. He made it himself out of his own money and feels it is not too much to ask for people to pay the $15 or whatever at amazon for this DVD.
And Renzo wants me to tell him who uploaded this so he can have them kicked out of the jiu jitsu academy they train at. He watched the film-maker struggle to make this film over 10 years and thinks it is outrageous that a jiu-jitsu student would do this to someone in their community. I'm just trying to decide what to do.

I don't want to get in the middle of your argument, but I'll offer my view:
I highly doubt this kind of small documentary would reach audiences world-wide, unless people spread it through P2P. Especially when that DVD is Region 1.
So even if it would seem unethical first hand, you have to think about the fact that people tell about this documentary to other people etc etc. The director's name becomes more well known, he'll get more publicity, perhaps job opportunities and so on and so on...
I think I'm a living example that this is exactly how formerly underground stuff become global phenomenas. I didn't pratically know anything about MMA except I had heard the name "Vale Tudo" once or twice. I thought jiu-jitsu was some kind of ninja-crap that had no practical applicability.
In just a few years my eyes have opened and I've found a sport that gets me up in the morning to go and run, do heavy bag workouts and sparring. And, it's also extremely interesting to watch also, especially since the sport is still evolving.
