Midnight Oil - 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 BW Remaster [FLAC]

Here's my first attempt at remastering a classic. Hope everyone enjoys, leave a comment or two if possible, I need to know where to improve :) Oh, and I know full well that it's not as loud as modern albums, that would absolutely spoil the magic of this album. To put it simply, I'm not going to damage this music (any more than I already have). The volume knob exists for a reason, and if you're listening to it in shuffle mode or something, whatever. The album wasn't intended to be listened to in shuffle mode. Technical details (read only if you really want to know what I did): * Ripped original CDCBS 25314 (1983 CD release) using EAC. * Ran Waves Linear Phase EQ (Lowcut), at either 20 or 30Hz (did this a while ago, and lost the preset due to a system reformat) * Ran Adobe Parametric EQ; 8dB @ 105Hz Q1.79, 2.9dB @ 6350Hz Q1.69 * Normalised to -.1dB (to satisfy people with loudness at least somewhat) * Chopped up by embedding original CUE sheet into wav file using CueListTool * Changed track indexes cuz I thought they could be improved * Exported CUE sheet from WAV using CueListTool, manually added "countdown" indexes (function not working in CueListTool?) * Chopped up tracks using CUE sheet in EAC. * Converted to FLAC 1.2.1 level 8, verified * Wrote ID tags * Scanned original covers and spent a whole day touching them up in photoshop Once again, enjoy, if you have a request for any other classic rock albums, and there isn't a better remaster out there somewhere, I might be able to have a go. I'll probably try Midnight Oil's 1984 album, "Red Sails in the Sunset" next (provided I can find a sample accurate FLAC rip of the 1984 CBS release). Thanks for putting this one on. It's is a great album and your FLAC version is excellent. It holds up well on my £200 HD jukebox against a pristine CD on my modified Accuphase CD player. Sadly though, I think most punters aren't interested in sound quality. I did something similar with a few of my torrents but go little, or no feedback.

Sadly you're right about punters, however it's never too late to retrain them to like proper sounding music, rather than the "product" that music's now become (ultra loud, ultra distorted fuzz, essentially... due to the mastering process, and everyone's misconceptions towards loud music).
Still, doesn't hurt to put the effort in :p

I can't quite work out why you would want to mess around with the original CD.
What are you trying to achieve?

i wanted to "mess around" with the CD because the mix was very bass less... a common issue with almost all of midnight oil's pre 90s albums. unfortunately with this release i think i went a bit too over the top, I've learnt more since then.

That's why you have a little round knob on the pre-amp called "bass". It's placed beside the other little round knob called "treble".
I'll stick to the original vinyl :)
