By Japanese edition, it simply means the version that was released specifically in Japan, as they got bonus tracks on some of the albums, and noone else did.
It doesn't mean that it is a Japanese dub.

People have actually done benchmark tsts on this. Most of people cant differentiate between mp3@320 and lossless in most situations. Storing in lossless is just wasting hard drive space unless you have a $20000 sound system and better hearing than 90% of the polulation.
