Description:

Hard Drive Inspector Professional v3.0 build 198 Professional made Portable No need to install it! Or, if you want to, setup and crack are included. Just install it, then copy cracked program in the install Dir. Hard Drive Inspector is a powerful, effective and easy-to-use program that monitors hard drive health. The value of information stored on an average computer hard drive often exceeds the value of the computer itself. But a hard drive is one of the most unreliable internal computer devices. When it crashes (which happens quite frequently), the stored information will be lost fully or partially. Subsequent information recovery is either not possible at all, or constitutes a very sophisticated and expensive procedure that can be performed only by specialists. More infos at: http://www.altrixsoft.com/en/hddinsp/ The Portable SFX EXE file is built up using WinRAR. You can use it to extract the files and check them one by one if you want to be sure of what is running on your machine. SUGGESTIONS ON USING P2P DOWNLOADS ================================== 1) It's always better to run all downloaded programs using Sandboxie or a similar virtual machine. 2) When in doubt, scan them with an Internet Scan service as the ones provided by Jotti and VirusTotal http://virusscan.jotti.org/ http://www.virustotal.com/ This will ***NOT*** give you any warranty that a file passing their analysis is clean, nor that if they see them as a troian it's so or not just another false positive, but helps you to decide and at least ask for help or infos. 3) Remember, trust nobody, and when in doubt, go to point 1) 4) If you find any upload containing trojans or whatsoever malicious or unclean, instead of start cursing in the comments of the upload, take the time to go to the Suprbay Forum at: http://suprbay.org/forumdisplay.php?f=34 and report links and comments there, and someone will take care of all the nasties. That's the only way to keep TPB and its uploads fresh and clean. That's for what is regarding security. If after testing it you see that you like it and it's useful for you, show your support by buying it! Enjoy and remember to seed... :o)

Doesn't work.
Fails on Vista as it tries to install a service which it cannot. I suspect this is the case on any Windows OS.
It isn't "Portable" either as it sets itself to run via
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
in Vista so on reboot you either get an error or it tries to run the app even if the app isn't there (USB).

@Idolsys
This one is built on a Windows XP x86 installation. If you want to run it on Vista you or someone else should try to install and build it from a Vista installation. I don't use Vista and for sure I'm not install it in the near future. Life is enough difficult even without Vista so I don't see any reason to make it more complicated...

BTW, this program is supposed to be resident on your PC. In my case my AV tells me that it tries to set the program every run, and I can choose if let it do it or not, if you choose yes it'll try to run it every start. Normally it will try to run it from %TEMP% dir where the files get expanded, I don't know if it goes in the same place on Vista.

If the program is trying to stay resident especially after a reboot that doesn't make it "portable" in my book. It may mean it's a single exe to run but portable means to me, no tracks afterwards.
I test 99% of these apps on Vista because if it's trying to do something hinky Vista is going to tell you.

@Idolsys
Vista will ask a confirm even if you want to take a pee, that's why after testing it for some hours I reverted back to good ol' XP. Anyway, the only real portable programs are the ones that the programmer made up to work so. Programs like this that are supposed to be installed and resident of course try to write what they need in the registry, as they suppose to be runned at every boot. This is is just a workaround to use it even if you don't want to install it, just for a quick check of your HDs. Probably making it portable with Thinapp will make it more clean, but probably it won't run on Vista too unless you don't create it there. If you want...
