Description:
R-Studio Data Recovery Network Edition v5.0 Build 129000 made Portable (Thinstall'd).
No need to install it!
Or, if you want to, Setup and Serial are included.
R-Studio is a family of powerful and cost-effective undelete and data recovery software. Empowered by the new unique data recovery technologies, it is the most comprehensive data recovery solution for recovery files from FAT12/16/32, NTFS, NTFS5 (created or updated by Windows 2000/XP/2003), Ext2FS/Ext3FS (LINUX file systems) and UFS1/UFS2 (FreeBSD/OpenBSD/NetBSD file systems) partitions. It functions on local and network disks, even if such partitions are formatted, damaged or deleted. Flexible parameter settings give you absolute control over data recovery.

This has been built up on an XP x86 machine, I don't know if this program can run on a x64 or Vista machine. I't's up to you to check it if you are using them.
SUGGESTIONS ON USING P2P DOWNLOADS
==================================
1) It's always better to run all downloaded programs using Sandboxie or a similar virtual machine until you are sure they are clean.
2) When in doubt, scan them with an Internet Scan service as the ones provided by Jotti and VirusTotal
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
http://www.virustotal.com/
This will ***NOT*** give you any warranty that a file passing their analysis is clean, nor that if they see them as a troian it's so or not just another false positive, but helps you to decide and at least ask for help or infos.
3) Remember, trust nobody, and when in doubt, go to point 1)
4) If you find any upload containing trojans or whatsoever malicious or unclean, instead of start cursing in the comments of the upload, take the time to go to the Suprbay Forum at:
http://suprbay.org/forumdisplay.php?f=34
and report links and comments there, and someone will take care of all the nasties.
That's the only way to keep TPB and its uploads fresh and clean.
That's for what is regarding security. If after testing it you see that you like it and it's useful for you, show your support by buying it!
Enjoy and remember to seed... :o)

Thanks man!!sharebird (2009-08-13)
I wrote yesterday saying thanks (before I d/l'd)... but today my av picked up a backdoor when I ran the app.Details:
AV program: Avira
Virus: BDS/Backdoor.7168.C
Exe: svchost.exe
Location: C:\Users\\Application Data\Thinstall\R-Studio 5.0\1000000600002i\svchost.exe
It seems like the portable exe drops a backdoor named svchost.exe into my application data directory for r-studio and tries to run it. This does not sound at all like a false positive, and svchost.exe is a well-known exe name for a variety of viruses.
Can anyone else verify this?
sharebird (2009-08-13)
The above virus message occurs whenever I open or save an image to/from disk. For example, if I select a drive and choose 'Create Image', a dialog pops up asking me where to save. This dialog is immediately followed by the warning from my av.A scan of the original download files comes up clean, however... the virus seems to be compressed/encrypted within the portable executable.
Can anyone verify? Either by running with av guarding, or by running and looking in the application data directory for a svchost exe or tmp file?

@sharebirdI 've already answered in my other comments, but I report them here too.

This is the result of the VT scan of the svchost.exe file that you name. Effectively it gets a few hits from minor AVs, while the Big Ones doesn't find anything wrong in it. Looks like Thinstall uses a stripped down version of the regular program delivered by M$, but as the version of Thinstall that I use is quite old, I suppose that if there was a virus in its creations they should have been coming up earlier. Time to put Avira too in the Paranoid list. Anyway, if you trust more in your AV than in my Portable no problem, use the normal setup or build your own portable using Thinstall/Thinapp or something similar. BTW, scanned also by ThreatExpert this file doesn't do anything harmful but as usual, check by yourself, never trust too much in anybody, 'cause everybody can make a mistake... :o)

sharebirdrefer to...total commander 7.50 rc1 portable page I have left a comment for you to read :)

NoExcusesI never had any problems with your torrents and just like to say....keep up the gr8 work :)
sharebird (2009-08-18)
Read the other comments, thanks for the replies. I think fredpc has hit the nail spot on... I think the version of Thinstall you're using is itself infected. Fredpc reports seeing the exact behavior I'm describing after downloading an infected version of Thinstall... he resolved it by downloading another version.Think you may need to do the same : (
I appreciate your efforts, though, you have some excellent apps (and with a good AV running to catch this, they are still usable).
Thanks!
