Anyone that has the porblem where it says "the serial key is invalid" just turn off your internet (either unplug modem or just disconnect on your comp) and then press continue. You will have to do this each time, but it takes 4 seconds...

There's some sort of glitch I encountered, last night I played this map past the election (same map, same election from demo) and it didn't show a victory screen. I saved the game and quit.
Then just now, I launched it to take a screenshot to ask the same question you did, yet it immediatly showed the victory screen.
It could be a bug or a glitch. Or it could be intended anti piracy features. It seems though that if you have this problem, saving and reloading might help.

i agree that the small changes made did not warrant a another edition to the series. i do like the more linear style of the maps though.

Okay It's Time for me to help you guys..
first of all, kudos to extremezone :)
Now, I'll help you about the connection problem.
What you must do is.
Open Control Panel\Windows Firewall\Advanced Settings\Outbound Rules...
Click New RULE
Select Program click next
Select "this program path" then look for
program files > kalypso media > Tropico 4.exe then select the .exe
default should be block connection, click next
then by default everything is checked then click next
then for the name. just type tropico.
start the application, type in serial then PLAY :)
For the serial, its in the fairlight folder.

dedin567-you need a program to mount the image to a virtual drive. If you dont want to download one, then just burn this image to a dvd, and install it like any other game.

You shouldnt need an offline patch all you need to do is block it or turn the wireless adapter off then you can go online right after you are in the game.
This game is pretty good, they added alot of neat features even though it is still mostly the same as the one before it

problem is not with the installation of the game, one can merely unzip the iso and install it. The problem seems to be that the game WILL NOT RUN, ie CRASHES immediately if you are not connected to the internet or have blocked the exe with a firewall. I have now tried it on 2 different windows 7 machines one 32 bit and one 64.

Works great, as does this upload of Tropico 4.
That said, I appreciate the opportunity to try this game before buying it, as although the game is deep, detailed, and well done, I ultimately found it a boring exercise in micromanagement. Too much like what I do for a living to be an enjoyable past time! =P

Blocking this program from accessing the internet with Windows Firewall in Windows 7 doesn't prevent it from checking the CD key, thus I still get an "invalid CD key" message when attempting to log in. Only shutting off the modem will stop it.
I have set up rules to block the program on both incoming and outgoing yet it still checks the CD key with no problem.

For everyone who is getting the notification of the CD key being invalid, it's likely not because the key gen doesn't work, but because you haven't blocked Tropico 4's connection to the internet, allowing it to figure out the key is invalid.
It took a few seconds of searching to figure out how to fix this, so I'll attempt to offer some assistance.
Don't worry if the game tells you that the key is invalid, go ahead and leave it in there and then close down the launcher before following these steps:
1. Open up Control Panel from the Start Menu.
2. Find Windows Firewall and Enable it if it is turned off.
3. Click "Advanced Settings".
4. Click "Outbound Rules" on the left.
5. Click "New Rule..." on the right side, under "Actions" and "Outbound Rules".
6. Select "Program" and hit next.
7. Select "This Program Path:" and find the Tropico4.exe in the folder that you installed the game in, hit next.
8. Select "Block the Connection", hit next.
9. Check all of the boxes, next.
10. Name it Tropico 4, or whatever you like and then click "Finish".
~~ Now when you launch Tropico, the CD key that you entered before should be valid and the game should launch. ~~
All of this is easy to figure out on your own, but I wrote it out in 10 steps in case anyone needed that much detail. ~~Sorry!!

Pretty easy guys. Just mount image with Daemon Tools. Install, DO NOT let it try and run the game from start. Do the following.
Go to your Windows Firewall. Go to Advance Settings and block the path that Tropico 4 will execute from.
Run the game, when it asks for Key use a key from the Fairlight folder, its a small program inside the folder (very tiny program). You will know if the program is blocked because it will only ask for the Key, but not your email address.

The crack doesn't work. I tried the 10 step thing, I have it permanently blocked in the firewall, added the rule set, etc. I even uninstalled, deleted EVERY reference to Tropico from registry, yet it still asks me for email/password after I input the cdkey.

Disregard my previous comment, game works perfect. I had the modern times add on installed before activating the key. You need a different key for the add on.
1.Install game
2.turn off your internet
3.enter any of the keys from keygen
4.enjoy your rule!!

I downloaded this game and played it for months. Now I am going back and trying to play again and this is whats going on.
Its going into a different screen and saying "Downloading Launcher" its stuck at 100% and the only button that I am able to click is "Install Update" the 'Skip' button is greyed out. If I click on Install update, it takes me to where it wants my email address for the account blah blah blah.
Now before you ask, yes I did block it in my firewall under Advance settings. Its possible that the settings may have gotten changed some how in the last few months I played. However, I uninstalled and reinstalled and did not let the game run at the end. I blocked everything yet once again in Firewall. I started game, it asks for Key, I put key in from Keygen and the same crap starts all over again. Its at "Installing Launcher 100%" and flashing "install update" yet again.
I am at a loss. Perhaps I need to uninstall, reboot, and reinstall all over again??

Here's what I did: Don't waste your time with blocking the game. I just unplugged my internet during installation and used the Keygen code. Someone was kind enough to post a few in the comments, I used the first one and it worked instantly.
Installation went smooth, no problems. Mount was easy. Lots of seeders, download went pretty fast. Good torrent. No complaints. Thanks!
