Whats the best way to convert the m4p files to mp3?

Not sure it's the best way, but you can convert using iTunes. Drag the files into iTunes where, because they're m4b's, they'll show up as audiobooks. Select Edit > Preferences, and go to the "Advanced" tab. There, select the "Importing" tab and change "Import Using..." to MP3 Encoder. Hit OK, then back in main window select all the m4b's and right click. You'll see an option to "convert selection to mp3." Do it. Hope that helps.
