This worked for me, after the one I was using became disabled. I did not think to uncheck the automatic updates. It seems like the folks at Xilisoft get wise to pirated copies and can disable them after they've been so-called registered. Before installing this, I would recommend uninstalling any prior version as well as removing all references to it in the registry. My computer had 4 or 5 references, at least two of which were folders in the registry, which I deleted. This version then worked fine. Be sure to uncheck the auto updates in the preferences right away.
