This fix is provided for those who have the Skullptura batchfile of Call of Duty:World at War, and have encountered the 'no-voice' sound problem when playing the game. Instructions on 'how to' are in the README file! Enjoy!

Indeed, ChinChiller, thank you for clearing that out.
It's not FROM Skullptura, but a fix FOR Skullptura's rip (the batchfile).
By the way, the fix does work.

Ooohhh, and I didn't make it, but found it on the net after 4 hours of cursing and swearing my ears off. So I decided to make it easier for the rest of us and share the fix with the rest of the world with just one DL.

to be honest, i dont really think the voice thing or not having it affected the game .(certainly hasnt stopped me using it)big thanks anyway ,maybe he will re-upload it .loads of people love his rips, myself included as they always work .take care

No seriously, it did disturb me that I didn't hear the voice commands of my Captain (or was it Sergeant?) and didn't know where to go or what to do. It's alot more fun hearing him scream and yell at you then beeing like a deaf person and run straight into a trap and die from your first 5 minutes of gameplay. LOL
But anyways, ya'all are welcome and enjoy this little (?) fix.

Good stuff Opel, this does work :) File size matches the 1 i dloaded. 3 files to replace and the voice now works.
Unfortunately for me this game is severely plagued by crashes (constant crashes to desktop unhandled exception error after 10-15 min or so of game play, sometimes less) Same thing happened when I had the original ISO. So it's either the game (which is what i think) or the crack. I'm def not the only 1 with this problem and this problem has been around since the beta. GJ Activision/Treyarch, How do u fuck this up when COD4 works fine? It's the same engine/same textures, sad shit...

draganr - sadly there is no link as the upload was removed by skullptura because it was broken i.e was no voice sound .maybe he will upload now there is a fix for it (who knows )
or maybe someone who has it would upload it again , i would myself , but ide like to ask him if its ok to do so first .take care

Indeed, manu people seem to have this same problem, in the ripped and original version, but I'm one of the lucky ones who didn't encounter it (maybe I got a good up-to-date pc?). But there a few solutions appearently. Like I said, I can't check it, since the game runs perfectly overhere.
Try installing this: DirectX End User Runtimes
If this doesn't work, try this:
click: Start>Control Panel>Sound
Right Click on the default playback device (e.g. Speakers) and click properties. From there select the Advanced tab.
To eliminate this error the default playback format must be set at 24 bit 48000Hz (Studio Quality). Simply select this from the dropdown list and apply the settings.
Or this: right click ?CoDWaWbeta.exe? file >
?properties? >
then click on the ?Compatibility? tab >
Check the ?Run this program in compatibility mode for:? box and select ?Windows XP (Service pack 2)?
I'm not sure if you allready tried all these methods. If not, have a go at it, and let us know which one worked or if it even worked for you (also mention the system and specs you are running it on).

Im on XP SP3, at 1st I had the direct X problem so I updated and then I started having random crashes "unhandled blah blah". My drivers are fully up to date. I've tried every fix that I could find and nothing worked. The only thing I could do was save the game @ every checkpoint. Annoying as it was, that worked. I guess I'm just 1 of the unlucky 1's.
