Description:

Author Pressfield, Steven. Title Killing Rommel [sound recording] : a novel / Steven Pressfield. Publisher Prince Frederick, MD : Recorded Books, p2008. Description 9 sound discs (10 hr., 30 min.) : digital ; 4 3/4 in. Note In container (17 cm.). Title from container. "Unabridged Fiction"--Container. "With tracks every 3 minutes for easy book marking"--Container. Compact disc. Performer Narrated by Alfred Molina. Summary By the fall of 1942, Rommel's Panzers have routed Britain's Eighth Army in North Africa and are poised to capture Egypt, the Suez Canal, and the Middle Eastern oil fields. To stop Rommel, England deploys a new breed of highly mobile, heavily armed "scorpion" commandos. ------ The small file size is due to the use of the speech optimized codec Ogg Speex rather than MP3, and is not due to compromised quality. The drawback is limited support on mobile devices. If your device doesn't support Ogg Speex you can always reencode it to MP3. File size will increase sevenfold (assuming 128kbit) but you'll still get decent audio quality, and no gaps/jumps/spikes/other disturbances. MPlayer and VLC should work out of the box, for Windows Media Player download the Directshow Filters from http://www.illiminable.com/ogg

thank you so much!
i've been waiting for this book a long time.
normally vlc does a fine job with .speex files but with theese files i can only get a few seconds of audio then it dies.
i've tried mplayer too but no sound at all.
i'm running osx 10.4.11: any suggestions?
i would really appreciate any input. thank you.

your effort is much appreciated.
by the way the same problem seems to appear in your "state of denial".
hopefully you can fix that too.
happy hunting!
